The relatable feelings of not fitting in, self exploration, and not feeling safe within a system pair really well with the sci fi semi-dystopian setting with the politics of humanoids and their humanity. Perfect both in fostering curiosity in a rich genre as well as how it weaves affirming and empowering messages to young readers.

It is continuing in a good direction that really strengthens its nonlinear attributes

The tension isn’t thick, it’s bone-set, in a way that feels real. The world isn’t shallow yet the reader can understand it just as deeply as Nina.
My biggest priority is getting to know her better

As much as I love magical schools, I love that we get a character who is allowed to grow up and I love that the worldbuilding moves further than the magical school. Especially because we aren’t supposed to romanticize Artisans.

Not gonna try to remember where I was in this, I know I was around halfway but it’s a quick enough read and I don’t remember enough so imma start from the beginning

Gotten a lot better, still very much feeling how long it is. Writing is gorgeous it’s just the pacing that gets me, it’s easy to lose attention and not feel like I missed anything important. Luckily I have a good ear for interesting lines.
