It's difficult to understand why he keeps repeating himself, line after line, saying the same thing in a marginally different way. Again, out of principle, will try to power through this book but my irritation grows...

400 pages in and nowhere near as good as Journey... Finishing it on principle than pleasure. Got it, everyone in the slums of 1930s Paris looks like a fart and acts like an asshole. So many pages of vitriol, maybe I've just outgrown it too.
