Combined yesterday’s and today’s progress

Well this has certainly been a delight thus far!

The titular musketeers and d’Artagnan are all wuite amusing, and so are all the happenings of the story up to this point.

First couple chapters read! Fun enough so far; wish I had read more but my I keep running out of time because I've sleeping in too late the last couple weeks LOL

Oh well, excited to continue. Hoping this goes as quick as CoMC did!

Finished volume 5. This whole thing just keeps on getting more existential in unexpected ways. It’s surprisingly powerful.

Okay, I decided to read the last couple chapters of the Quenta Silmarillion today anyway lol

Now just 2 final sections to read tomorrow. That'll be easy enough. This has been a joy to experience and finally finish!

Man, Beren and Luthien & Túrin Turambur chapters were both incredible. Not surprised at all these are a couple of the Middle Earth stories with expanded versions. Really looking to reading them at some point now!

And now right at the doorstep of the Fall of Gondolin chapter - another story with a fuller independent version…I am very much looking forward to it!

Volume 4 finished. None of this did what I was expecting at all. But continuing to go in a direction that I think I'll experience pain before the end lol

Right on the doorstep of the Silmarillion versions of Beren and Lúthien, then Children of Húrin shortly after, and the Fall of Gondolin not long after that.

I should be able to get through the first couple of those without much issue tomorrow. Looking forward to it!

Temporary update to say I finished Volume 2 and really liked it! Heading directly into Volume 3 now to wrap up this first Deluxe Volume 💙

Quite a bit of progress today. Some really great material too. I think Chapter 13 is my favorite of the book so far, “Of the Return of the Noldor”.

Up to Chapter 9 of the Quenta Silmarillion, which I think is right where I stopped the first time. I should probably be taking this slower, but I am still having a good time and once again impressed by the depth. Too many to catch on a first pass - or second, as the case has so far been!

2 years after my initial plan to continue The Silmarillion I have finally returned - except this time it is a full-scale restart, and now going the immersive-reading route with Andy Serkis’s narration.

It’s wonderful to be back with Tolkien ahead of my upcoming reread of LotR later in 2026. No idea how quickly I’ll do this; I thought it’d be slow…but honestly I might just do it all this week 👀

OG Vol. 1 complete. The value contrast (or lack thereof) in the art bugs me a little bit, but overall really vibing with what this is doing so far.

Slower but incremental progress since the last update. Back half not as enjoyable as front half for me so far.

Had a lot on my mind recently.

Not as much progress today as intended, but made my bare minimum goal so I’m still good.

Man does it feel good to make such substantial progress in a book in so short a time again.

Had a pretty great reading morning. Certain jumps in the timeline (don’t worry, there’s not many of them) aren’t handled the most deftly as they could be (not confusing, just lacking some intentionality imo), but for simple King entertainment, I’m into this so far.

Just the preface, so basically read nothing, but excited to get into more Dumas!

Weird I’m reading more Dumas before more Hugo tho…

Not far to go now. Hoping to finish before I leave town in the morning for an extended trip, just so I don’t gotta lug this around with me! XD

Yesterday and today’s progress. Slightly les than preferred on account of sleeping in, but for once in my life a book is reading quickly, so I’ll take it anyway. Gonna try to get another third or more done tomorrow if possible.

So far so good.

Did my math wrong yesterday. I had about 50 pages left, not 40 lol
Tried to finish by brainfog from being sick affected that.

But I am now finished as of this morning.

Only about 40 pages left - 3 chapters plus the epilogue. Honestly some REALLY great stuff in Elayne’s plot for once in chapters 31-33. So very close to done.

Only like a hundred pages left. Thankfully the back half has been very good.

Apparently I forgot to update my relatively hefty reading yesterday, so that and today's are getting added together. Goal is to finish by the end of the weekend.

The last couple days got me to the halfway point. Time to try to plow through the back half over the next week or so if possible!

Finished Mat’s POV section. Was a bit more meandering than I would’ve liked tbh. But decent.

Not to the halfway point like I hoped to be by now. And probs won’t make much progress over the upcoming week. I’d suppose only reaching 50% next Wednesday because of a trip!

Been slow about updating, and less on top of reading because of a copy edit project. Perrin/Zarine chapters were solid enough; Mat chapters have been slower than I'd like.

First three chapter down, rather quickly actually. A lot of political revelations here with the White Tower and everything I find super interesting given obviously what happened right at the end of CoT.
