"I remember the date," Maggy says. "It was August 15, the feast of the Assumption of Mary."
How timely!

Oof... It's like Jesus, my psychologist, and JK Rowling all teamed up to make sure I read this part of the book tonight.

Just face palmed and laid paralyzed in my bed for like two minutes after Harry said "Voldemort" and their protective enchantments broke... I haven't been this upset at a book character since Seth Sorensen in Fablehaven. Harry Potter, you ******** little *****.

Really good-- if you know me, you know I despise Dobby... now I must say that I despise him a little less, and I love KREACHER. He's so funny and then his switch up to being loyal bc he was treated kindly made me tear up.

My kindle unlimited free trial ends on Monday so I gotta hurry up or I'll never finish this one, smh.

Okay. Once I'm done with medical school secondaries I'll pick this one back up. I read the little note my thesis advisor scribbled in the front cover of my copy again(this was a gift after I wrote about medieval surgery)-- and it rekindled how special it was for him to gift me this book. It's honestly really good it's just been too tedious for a fiction read as I complete a concurrent theology degree...

Dumbledore-Harry duo to get the Horcrux is so redemption arc coded it's actually incredible.
From the chaos of the deep water cave (Gen 1:2), to the "sea giving up her dead" (Rev 20:13) to Dumbledore's particularly paternal attitude towards Harry, to Dumbledore needing water ("I thirst") after drinking the potion (the cup that doesn't pass), that Dumbledore dies and falls from a height (incarnation, death)... cool

I love starting a HP book because without fail I scream laugh, chew my pillows, and do summersaults at any interaction the Dursleys have with the wizarding world-- AND THIS ONE WITH DUMBLEDORE AND KREACHER IN THEIR LIVING ROOM! HAHAHA! This book has already got me furry and four-legged!!!

So it's been nearly two years ... and I haven't finished this book... If I don't read the rest by the end of the summer, I'll humble myself and put on the modern equivalent of sack cloth and ashes-- which for me is Goodreads' new "Did not finish" option... a lament I want to avoid, but man this book is tedious

Woah-- JKR is doing an incredible job at capturing Harry's developing teenage angst and insecurity. He's becoming a lot more oniony. Layered, a bit stinky.

So I've been watching parts of the movie alongside my progress in the book and I didn't realize just how much is cut out of the movie! I now resonate with the geeks who always moaned and groaned "the book is better! The book is better"
It's me, I'm the geeks.

I'm both irritated by and sad for Ron in reading how he responds to Harry's enrollment in the Triwizard Tournament.
JKR does a brilliant job capturing that interesting feeling of excitement & pride from achieving something great and the despair & loneliness that accompanies it when you have friends who wish it was them instead of you
