Enraptured already. I see what folks meant when they said you have to be fully present with this book. The world building is so elaborate to the point you feel your brain swelling

I really love my Catechist and the guys I meet w/ on Sundays. Good people. The Catechism is edifying and transformative on its own, but studied in community makes it that much more.

***Like some others I've seen-- I'll plan to keep the Catechism in my "Currently Reading" indefinitely!

Helpful in reflecting on Mass at Our Lady of Consolation in CLT this wknd-- it was very Black in all senses of the concept lol (iykyk)

Mister Umberto Eco... WHAT are you talking about here? It's like smelling the smoke of a candle that's blown out. There COULD BE illumination here, but I can't quite grasp it. Only a wispy witness:

Very thought provoking and provocative as a 21st century man reading this. I catch myself feeling giddy/nervous about how dominant societal attitudes would feel about this book. Pretty incredible how von le Fort uses sociology, history, art, and religion to comment on the symbolism and spiritual power of women. I'm sat.

If you're an idiot, you should NOT read this book!

Pages 376-378 was a riveting recap of Church History-- I learned more about the sacerdotal vs monarchical model than I did in 2 weeks of lecture

Heschel's focus on God's "Anthropopathism" is rich.
"There is a sorrow in God's anger. It is an instrument of purification, and its exercise will not last forever... Anger is not His distortion, but a state He waits to overcome."

Jewish commentary on the prophets has opened my heart in new ways. I love God and I love how God loves His people-- with passion and the idea of disengagement as inconceivable.

Saving the final chapter for tonight when I'm cozy in bed again. But wow-- the last hundred pages or so have been incredible. Up until that point, the book was likely a 4 star for me... but the theological, eschatological dimensions of this children's book has filled me deeply and given me a new imagination for my own faith/values/identity... hmph. A surprising and welcomed experience for sure.

...what just happened... a plot twist like I have never experienced... am I... distressed? Enthralled. Enraged? Enraptured? I probably won't sleep tonight.

Enjoying this. Feels like an accessible refresher and expansion of two semesters of Old Testament lol

The Sphinx is a bad bad person and it makes me quite agitated... ENOUGH OF YOU, YOU BEAST!

If this was a book for adults, I would for sure throw up bc a happy ending isn't guaranteed. Probably the worst thing to ever happen just happened?? STOP! I need a break from this book.

You know when a book gets so good that you start feeling guilty? Like you begin cancelling all your plans for the day, you get cozy, and you read for hours and hours? This is happening. The last two chapters I read have me SAT.

MY GOD! PLEASE! No other FableHaven book has stressed me out this bad. Just disaster after disappointment after dismal horrific performance. Absolutely riveting. Love it. Chest thumping. Hands sweating.
