Poor vireth

Finished sept 13 and was a fun little time listening to the audiobook. I have to look up who is who though. So many different men.

Okay vireth was a little bit immature but I find her to be hilarious now. The way the poor knight farmer was speaking of honor, loyalty, his love for his people and girl straight up laughs in his face lol

Oh, a fortune teller and a cryptic prophecy, love that because I can never interpret or guess what the author is saying

Yeah, this book was good. Fast plot, entertaining, anxiety inducing moments, a lot of characters that had connections to the King but all in different ways. I’m wondering why the book timeline was about 1 week and if there will be more character depth (I think they are all very different but I don’t have as much of a connection to them). Written beautifully and I love the cliffhanger.

Love the illustration of vireth (female main character) at the end of chapter 1. What I like so far is almost everything but I dislike that even though she’s 40 she’s still acting like a Sarah j Maas tween character with certain mannerisms.

Interesting magic and my gosh I was panicking with the horse on the cliffs scene

Normal size man in creepy old dark mansion, whispering to the dark hallway, and swings his legs in his chair instead of having them flat on the floor then they grow back to normal length. What???? Not describing it the best but it was somehow unsettling and creepy.

Cedrik being a stoic man but also stepping in as a friend to an orphan boy…I think I’m gonna like him

Sobbing as usual. Nighteyes, my wolf, my buddy and pal, how I ache and hurt alongside you. Fitz and Burrich - a beautiful father son duo if I ever saw one. I love where Robin hobb took the magic - I was realllllly hoping it was gonna be like that and it was and I thought it was perfect. Bravo.

The only golden haired queen I will worship is Queen kettricken. What a warrior woman.

The wolf..Molly…man I just don’t feel good about these things. Also like verify can you pls just get a grip and try to be nice to your wife for ONE second.

Oh. Hmm what’s going on. LOST meets house of leaves meets piranesi. So many fun elements in this book. Now I gotta reread. The lifespan on this book in terms of being able to reread it feels endless. Because I want to go back and see what I missed. I want to hunt for those hidden clues. I want to pick apart the story and figure out the real ending

I hate the whole coma trope. Still have quite a few pages left, maybe it becomes something more

I stayed up later than usual because I need to know what’s going on. Still stringing me along in a meandering way that has me hooked still.

Yes. I already cried. How does she do it? The terrible images of mothers and her children in a village that is burning and dying…I hate being able to visualize it.

Oh, it just ends. Kinda reminds me of The Road. Hope is dim throughout, setting is dystopian, and what happens to humans is left unanswered.

Is this about abuse of men? And recovery?

At first I thought it was about a coming of age. When you’re little you know nothing, you don’t even know you exist and then you get older and realize the burden of adulthood. Now I’m wondering if they are in an insane asylum. We will see.
