this has grown on me a lot so now im easily blowing through a few chapters before bed instead of struggling through one. it wasn't the world building, which many people complain about, but the characters just didn't grab me at all until i was 80ish pages in which is ummmm insane. but now they have grabbed me and that was the one thing that wasn't working for me so im all in
