It took me a few pages to get into it. But gaddemn is this how people used to talk back then?
All the characters sound like robots making observances of what is happening. They don't sound like human beings having a real conversation. Maybe this is Kafka's style. Each line feels information dense, like I'll miss something if I get distracted for a second.
Either way, an interesting turn of events so far. I'm hooked.

I slogged through a couple more pages and FINALLY this grandson of Prince Genji guy stands somewhere and crosses his arms and starts having thoughts. Three to be exact. When I said something better happen soon, I didn't exactly mean a man having three thoughts and crossing his arms and it definitely didn't happen soon cuz it took 6 chapters. Still, I'm determined to see this through with renewed vigor.

I'm 14 pages in and finding it super hard to keep reading this book, mostly because there's nothing happening at all. The author is just painting landscapes and I suspect the whole book is written in this style (idk for sure) which is a cool idea, I guess but holy hell something better happen soon

Toru's failure to understand Naoko (according to Naoko herself) and his being adamant on staying and trying to understand her (like a hobby) is something that I deeply relate to and reminds me of my own past relationships.
