I picked up this book at a free give away. I need another book like I need a shot in my head, but here I am with another book, and I like it. I haven't read much Kurt Vonnegut, so I'm excited about how it turns out. The protagonist is one of the plain, boring guys who just do their work and go home. What I love is the prediction that machines would take over our jobs. Speculative fiction does something for my brain.

Another YA novel. This one is for our library book club. I loved the television series when I was a teenager. This book is well-written. Literary yet contemporary and well-suited for the age level.

Years ago I read the History of the Roman Catholic Church, so I know much of what's in here already, since it appears that European history is about wars and religion. This book goes into the social, commercial, and every day life of these people. It ends with some note on art. I am reading it with a critical eye and finding comparisons and roots to today. In a word, Yuck!

I'm at a section that talks about the Popes and the kings, particularly the German kings. Terrible people. 1066 is coming up soon. Can't wait to see the details about this infamous date. Where did William the Conqueror come from? What is his claim to the throne?

Fascinating book on our official cultural music.

I still don't like the love line. Dumb. I'm tired of them training. There are some good surprise scenes, though.

Okay. It's getting better. King might be dead. He got taken by vampires and Lilith kicked him over a cliff. I don't like his characterization. Black character. Big, dark, raised on the streets of LA, mother OD'd. Can white writers imagine any other down and out story for a black character? Awhade rass.

I don't like this book. Too many unnecessary scenes. Why do I need to see them making breakfast? I still can't stand sex scenes in vampire stories--except for Underworld. Underworld has a plausible romance and both are pretty serious. Glenna in this story makes me cringe.

I'm reading my books, but I'm at about 50 percent for all of them...
