I remember bell hooks arguing that every race of women require a safe space to articulate their unique realities. I feel like for most of my childhood/adulthood, I've been searching for a way to unpack and understand my own identity or my own "unique reality." Not only is this book helping me do that, but it's also adding context to the forces that shaped my experience and I-- I'm just blown away. Love this!!!

OMG wait. Holy crap. Truman Capote was ACTUALLY friends with the author's grandmother, Babe Paley, before she cut him off for revealing her husband's affair in his infamous unfinished book? I was just kidding when I said I thought he would love the hot gossip about the NYC elites mentioned in this book - TURNS OUT HE ACTUALLY DID AND GOT CANCELLED FOR IT? I had no idea who all he exposed in that book until now, omg!

This is insane. The cult-like townspeople all having walkie-talkies and communicating in a way that very intentionally leaves Grady out of the loop, almost like it's for a specific reason... idk it feels like a cross between The Truman Show (1998) and Midsommar (2019). Also, the narrators seem to have REALLY different versions of the same story (?) I have sooo many questions! I need answers (and sleep) right NOW!!!!!
