I've reached the chapter "The Black Plague" and I'm noticing, not for the first time, that there is content that has been copied word for word from a previous chapter. I understand that some of these plagues are very similar and may have, in fact, been variants of the same disease; however, it seems just plain lazy that they simply used the same exact excerpts across multiple sections.

I quit. Over 200 pages in and the series plot still has not advanced from the end of book one. The first book was a little sloggy but I can't even read this one.

Almost nothing has happened in over 150 pages. The first book had some pacing issues but this one is not going anywhere. There's been a change of setting, lots of new character introductions. And that is basically it. I don't know if I'll finish this book.

Oh no I've made the mistake of looking at the reviews and I fear I'm not going to enjoy this one. At least it's from the library so I didn't waste any money on it. 4.02 stars overall but all of the reviews featured at the get-go are only 1-2 stars.

I'll give it a chance at least. Back cover blurb sounded promising and the cover drew me in.

Hey guys. Did you know that anyone can betray anyone? No? Don't worry, this book will constantly remind you. Oh. Also. I am 200 pages in and feel like this book has gone nowhere. We're too busy with broody wallowing and unnecessary guilt/ telling me how badass little horse girl is.

I loved the first book despite its many, glaring issues, but book 2 is proving to be a challenge for me.

"Now the future is all I think of, wondering what dark path my actions have set us upon" - this line makes me think of Lego Movie Part 2 when Lucy/WildStyle is showing Emmet how to brood properly lol. Even read it in that same voice.

Picked this one up in the kids section the other day while I was letting my son play around with some toys and such. Looked like it might be in the realm of children's books that appeal to adults as well. And I love a good bit of magic/fantasy. Let's see where this one takes me!

I don't love the back and forth time hopping. I'm not reading this book very quickly and I keep forgetting what is going on.

Not loving the writing style so far, but I'm interested to see where the story goes. Seems like we're going to get lots of skeevy adults in this one..

I feel like this book is mostly about Cersei's paranoia / craziness. And Briennes walkabout. Waiting for things to actually happen over here. Like why introduce lady stoneheart at the close of book 3 to then turn around and barely even mention her for , so far, almost 700 pages. What even is going on?!

The chapter titles are really irritating to me right now. Why couldn't we just stick to the same format as previous books?

Not sure what I'm thinking trying to read 3 books at the same time. I'll probably never finish at least 2 of them lol

Well, finally got a taste of action a few pages back. Still feeling pretty underwhelmed with this book though.
