we are so back 😛i chose this book based off the incredibly well done netflix show. so far, there’s a lot of discrepancies and just a certain flow the show had that the book lacks. not sure if im going to read book two yet, but enjoying the story.

why are we still will-we-won’t-we-ing at page 322? you’re losing me.

it’s like, i love the vibe, but the execution has me lost. i hate sex used as a replacement for truly deep and profound conversations. :(

short reading session, nothing out of the ordinary

i don’t even know what to say at this point 😭 there are high highs and low lows, i just absolutely hate the way sex is written in books — idk if it’s just what i’ve read, or just the period/type of books im reading. but it feels like, corny and uncomfortable. 😭 a nice fade to black and better emotional vulnerability would do me well man.

scene in the grass was 10/10, but this will they won’t they is killing me, i hate it actually. i deeply hate it. i like build up and then final decision, not yes-no-yes-no.

comfort book with characters that pmo is the best way i can describe how i feel. i feel comfort opening the book each night, and yet the main character stay pmo 🫩

today’s reading day was harddd. ik something bad’s gonna happen 😭 learning im not a fan of medical stuff in my books, and the memory of issac coming in that window? like a punch to the chest. this is so well written, and truly makes me feel, just not sure if the content is what i would go for again.

the book actually brought a bit of heat to my chest today, but i’ve realized something. i’m deeply invested in the story of issac and laniah, but not of issac or laniah, which is why i quickly deflated when she went back home. 😭 reading about a fake long distance relationship when i don’t particularly love/root for the characters individually is…difficult. again, beautiful writing, im just not connected.

it’s so cute — ugh i’m so torn, some parts are 3 stars and some are 4. like i love the slips of intimacy we’re seeing as the characters grow closer together. i’m jus a big fan of that depth, and it kinda takes a bit to get there in this boom for me.

it’s definitely warm and cozy some parts, love lex and laniah’s friendship, the sexual mentions are just a lot. 😭 like honestly if there’s no deep/emotional/intimate aspect specifically to the spice and feels more like lust i don’t think i can really enjoy spice in a book

love lex, i’m still a little bored idk why 😕. maybe im just in the mood for more drama. like it’s so so well written, it just feels like watching a vlog..like i have to be in the moooood for a vlog. but i’m anti dnf so forward we shall go.

i’m not the most in love with the story line, especially if it’s finna get sad like i think, but it’s soooo well written (minus the smut, i hate smut me thinks 😔)

i don’t know why but i feel so disconnected 😭 like idk if it’s my small town trauma standing in the way of me loving the ambience but everything feels dull — and it’s very very well written, but the story itself idk 🥲

it’s cute so far — i don’t feel super connected yet since a lot of the circumstances feel distant from me (grief, small town, etc.).

it’s getting goooood. still it’s like, the language sometimes. idk i know it’s from the perspective of two kinda awkward angst teens but it’s a lot sometimes. 😭 loving all the fluffy romance moments, not loving the little sexual innuendos. i’m just very excited for tomorrow’s readdd

it’s good! got some awkward moments that are a little funny weird and not funny haha. i’m so in love with the characters, but similarly to the other ya book i read — i hateeee when the parents or “teen” stuff is involved. i had to pick this up for the mental health rep, but overall i would probably like it more if it was in the new adult, contemporary or just non-ya romance with mental health rep category.

they’re so cute. i need a growing, well intentioned, kinda awkward love like thissss 😽

short book with big worded pages, the story has an amazing start so far. i wish i could savor it a little more though bc it’s so cute 💞

that last section was really good, really had me in suspense as to what the hell was gonna happen. i’m sure this next section/the ending chapters of the book are gonna throw me for a loooop. i love the way this book is written.

girllll, i love how this book is like 60% context and build up. like im on the edge of my seat because NOWW, we’re getting all the secrets revealed and we’re about to start feeling the THRILL.

i am soooo, like it actually started to get invested 😭 especially when they added that lil bit of romantic tension as a sub plot! has me feigning and i’m so scared bc if they put hands on jeremiah im gonna be mad ash. every time the thing worrying me gets resolution, the author captures me with a new twists chiii. this is def in 4 star territory.

it’s starting to a get a likkle likkle juicy. still just getting bits and pieces but i have hope that as we near the climax it’ll get juicier and juicier.

cute, i hate mark, still tryna figure out if our protagonist is evil. that’s all! it’s like watching a movie honestly, so im getting revealed info little by little, and i kinda like it!

not much to say, it’s decent. just trying to keep up with the pacing and mode of storytelling!

i’m very excited (and a little scared, it’s a thriller, ahhh) for this book. i really enjoy the writing style, however it does take some adjusting given the third person — but i feel like when we get to the crimes and action it’ll be a really useful perspective! i can feel it gives like a, not a slow burn vibe per say, just like a pacing where i’m being eased in. and i love it!

the rising actionnnnnnn, we far as hell in this book to just be getting here but i get it. yasmina really pissed me off though, but i hope she’ll make up for it in the next few chapters.

i kind of enjoyed this last reading session. as i get to see more complexity and emotion on both sides, it truly intrigues me. but i do tend to roll my eyes when both main characters fall back into played out stereotypes. i just seek something more layered sometimes.

not gonna lie, yasmina really pissed me off today. also i literally keep getting fucked by these glimpses of emotional depth and character development that devolve into another sex scene. jesus christ 🫩
