I forgot how early Sevro finds out the truth and chooses to become a revolutionary. That scene was so fucking fire they have one of my favorite friendships I've ever experienced.

Slowing down on listening to this because I'm reading the current series but the action in this book was fucking unreal.

Cassius's character development has been so fucking fire so far man I HATED Cassius in the first trilogy but I'm fuckin w his redemption and his relationship with Aurae so much. DARROW WILL NEVER NOT BE THE GOAT!

i love the deeper dive into science fiction and mystery this second cour is doing it’s so damn fun and every new exploration pushes this story’s themes so damn well. this is just such a great fucking story. not sure how i feel about the portrayal of socialism tho still gotta wrap my head around the intent

FIYA!!!!! HOW THE HELL DO THEY GET OUT OF THIS!!! MUSTANG IS GREAT, SEVRO IS WHIPPED BUT STILL TUFF, EVEN LYSANDER’S CHAPTER FIGHTING WITH THE MINDS EYE WAS TUFF THIS BOOK IS FIYAAAA!

That first act was fucking amazing. Easily the most compelling, fun, thematically resonant, and character blossoming war sequence yet, and genuinely started this novel out with a fucking bang. Using Darrow and Lysander's perspectives to converge opposite ends of this conflict on its centerpiece is maddeningly effective.

Pierce is in his fucking bag. Deep in his fuckin bag. The pace, compelling character arcs converging all on this hellscape of a battle, and powerful character not just from Darrow and Lysander but from nearly everyone around them is making this the best first act any of these novels have ever had.

It's genuinely crazy how much better this book is than the first one, which was a great fucking book! Dare I say a PERFECT sequel? Dare I say my glorious, beautiful, illustrious king DARROW is my favorite character EVER.

really enjoying this world and how it is being built. I really like Vis so far as well. Smart, angry, and defiant is genuinely everything I could ever want in a character.

It's cool so far I like how slowly and organically the world is being built through Vis's perspective. The institution of Will as a power and economic system has a lot of potential for interesting thematic development

This book is genuinely so much better than I remember it, particularly thematically and character-wise. Watching Darrow discern the purpose of the Institute and twist it to test and develop his ability to lead a group based on individual loyalty rather than hierarchy is so damn compelling. I also like Mustang a lot more on this read, though I still feel like Brown should emphasize her intelligence more.

I also like Eo a LOT more this time around. I gleaned a lot more from their conversation in the little grotto and her actions. I still kind of feel like I wanted more from her, but feel more connected to her character after paying more attention this time around.

I actually kind of enjoyed the last few chapters, after the games ended. the complications of katniss and peeta's relationship are compelling sans the love triangle.

i kind of like these postgame chapters a little more. it kind of feels like the games exacerbate all of the lower points of collins' writing

lengths to which collins goes to force this eyeroll inducing love triangle is so funnh

I really hate how Thresh doesnt say Rue’s name, even though he knows it. cant exactly put my finger on why, i just feel like it kills his emotion.

as everybody else, profiting and being entertained by children slaughtering each other to uphold a totalitarian cast system.

i cant really remember the rest of this book but i hope katniss comes to realize that cato and the careers aren’t evil and she is no heroine even if the real evil, the capital, makes it out to be as such. I think that could be the best thematic outcome, even if i feel it at this point it is coming too late. I wish there was more thought into how capital characters like Cinna are just as much a part of the machine
