I appreciate Darrow and Mustang's relationship much more this time around

This book is genuinely so much better than I remember it, particularly thematically and character-wise. Watching Darrow discern the purpose of the Institute and twist it to test and develop his ability to lead a group based on individual loyalty rather than hierarchy is so damn compelling. I also like Mustang a lot more on this read, though I still feel like Brown should emphasize her intelligence more.

I also like Eo a LOT more this time around. I gleaned a lot more from their conversation in the little grotto and her actions. I still kind of feel like I wanted more from her, but feel more connected to her character after paying more attention this time around.

story moves so fast. i feel like im getting the opposite of whiplash because the 2 books i read before were so slow by comparison. fun tho

perhaps the most overtly masculine thing ive ever read. kind if like a trigger/gurren lagann fan’s wet dream. hella entertaining so far, in a ‘tickling my lizard brain’ kinda way. lacks some subtlety and is highly predictable so far too, but i think it’s intentional. interested in seeing where it goes next!

vivid, darrow set up for some peak character development. the world is being written with very potent, thematic dystopic elements

Detailed world building synthesized with characterization so far. Unique language of the world is easy to parse so far. Had no idea this would be so YA?
