Really high expectations for this one

I hate how dumb my favorite characters are in this one, they’re all really damsels in distress, relying heavily on plot armor. And even though the plot has one unique aspect, it’ pretty unoriginal. The relationships are ok but I don’t feel the angst, and there’s not enough romance. Idk why this is a fandom favorite. I tried. Obv I’m not gonna DNF it, but it’s been really lukewarm( cr: no greater sin)

This is hauntingly beautiful. The tragedy and misogyny are woven into the story so naturally, while the looming context of World War II, especially the Asian Room and Japan’s aggression toward the countries around it, casts this constant shadow over the characters.
I found this genuinely educational. It feels like such a gift to women’s fiction.
And honestly? A BIG step up from Six Crimson Cranes.

Omg this is gonna be such a fun time

The way Sanderson set this story up and how all of a sudden he’s so quick and left his philosophical rants at home 😭It’s so refreshing.

This is gonna be a comfort book for sure.

Unfortunately, this has been tedious since chapter 70.
This is still a solid 4-star read because I think the earlier years (4th, 5th, and 6th) were incredibly well written and had some strong plot points.
However, ever since the whole war sequence which was soo bizarrely short it’s gone downhill.
Why did we make a whole book out of what could have been several short emails?

No obviously I’m not re-reading choices, that would be suicidal
