That was...uh...a chapter 😭😭

Not gonna lie Charis is the only POV I can read without feeling mildly annoyed at the writing of this book and how the other characters are lowkey unlikeable or dimension less.

I love how it's all pulling together now UGH this book is so good

Okay not gonna lie the way they've set the story up makes the whole "jumping into the romance plot right away" thing work so well

"a woman will take as many husbands as she pleases" okay but isn't Avallach literally besties with a king who has like 9 wives or something crazy like that 😭 but nooooo god forbid a woman does the same thing 😭 also why do they care about Picti women joining battle with their men like women are allowed to not be housewives come ON 😭 ik the times this story is set in but it still pmo

Weird how they immediately jumped into the love at first sight plot, and that we don't know much about Kip yet, but I guess that's the vision?? idk

I already love so much about this book and I haven't even finished it yet. I like how the book focuses more on the main character and their personal thoughts, feelings and experiences more than the romantic plot because it helps the romantic plot feel more real and human.

Not gonna lie, the female characters, apart from Charis and Briseis, just feel like they're there for the male characters, and most of the male characters feel misogynistic, bland and boring. I understand the times this story is set in but it still annoys me and I don't like this story nearly as much as I thought I would.

The last few chapters made me wanna cry for Haymitch because his internal dialogue is so heartbreaking :(( I hate how he beats himself up over things that aren't his fault.

I must admit her writing is pretty addicting at this point. But I feel like the start of the games could've been written a lot more immersively and smoothly. At the start, Haymitch's internal dialogue giving more Wyatt energy than Katniss energy if that makes sense lol
