Not gonna lie, the female characters, apart from Charis and Briseis, just feel like they're there for the male characters, and most of the male characters feel misogynistic, bland and boring. I understand the times this story is set in but it still annoys me and I don't like this story nearly as much as I thought I would.

Not gonna lie Charis is the only POV I can read without feeling mildly annoyed at the writing of this book and how the other characters are lowkey unlikeable or dimension less.

"a woman will take as many husbands as she pleases" okay but isn't Avallach literally besties with a king who has like 9 wives or something crazy like that 😭 but nooooo god forbid a woman does the same thing 😭 also why do they care about Picti women joining battle with their men like women are allowed to not be housewives come ON 😭 ik the times this story is set in but it still pmo
