I just finished chapter 9 and I gotta say, this is quite literally a copy of zodiac academy.
-triplets instead of twins
-some handsome dude tracks them down in the mortal realm, one almost gets arrested, they’re told they’re fae, he tempts them with an inheritance but they have to go to an academy first and learn magic before they can take the throne
-arrive at the school and one gets attacked by a vampire

I initially really enjoyed this book and like the pacing. But unfortunately it’s falling flat for me at 58%. It just feels forced and the plot is taking a weird turn. All of a sudden they’re all in love and there was a random bdsm punishment scene that was just so out of pocket. She’s supposed to be this secluded woman in the woods but she’s very sexually experienced? Idk it’s weird. And the queens annoying

I’m just super irritated with the pacing of this book. It feels like entire chapters are missing. It took them 3 days of travel on horseback to get to scarlata. They arrived, did a few things and the chapter ended. The very next chapter they were back at the golden city? How?? Where?? When??? The horses left. Did they magically arrive again? I’m so confused.

This battle will be the death of me

I had to take a break. This one’s intense and jumps right into the smutty smut. I can’t read it while my children are running around. This will be a guilty pleasure read that I just pick up and read a few chapters when I’m feeling spicy.

I have to literally set this down and catch my breath right now. I am barely keeping it together over here

I had to take a break. It was dragging on and on. I feel like it’s trying too hard to be snarky and clever and it’s not hitting the mark. I don’t really understand what’s going on. Rooks and bishops and courts…the world building isn’t there and no steam yet.
