Scifi book club October 2026 pick

It’s not for me

This book is so good and interesting when it’s good and interesting. But two authors with very different styles of narration is really hard to handle 😵‍💫 I’d say over half of it is actually just unnecessarily hard to read

He DIED??!!

That other update is even funnier if I really had made it on page 90 instead of 90%

Why isn’t this a short story?

Wish I’d read this as a teenager I would have been alllll about it

Alex be like: dear reader, pls bear with this backstory explanation.
But I still have no idea what the HELL is going on

I love Fitz, I love Burrich, I love every woman in this book especially (so far 🙏🏽) princess Kettricken.

Yes, yes. Finally.

Was anybody going to tell me that Octavia Butler is this good, or was I just supposed to read her by myself? (They have told me, repeatedly, and I’m reading her for book club. But damnnnn)

Sad to do it but it’s a dnf

😋

100% checked out tbh 😔

This book has me skimming the sex scene bc I soooo don’t care about the relationship 😭

😐

Was not expecting so much gratuitous violence that I would genuinely start to switch off from this story. But it’s too much actually, like, I get it, the king is a knob.

‘It had probably been dropped on accident by an adventurous child from the village’

… this is a professionally edited book, I thought lol

“Please don’t be something disgusting,” I said under my breath as I tipped the blob out onto the grass. Artifacts weren’t the only things hidden below; there were occasional bones, too, and in a thick, foul smelling pool deep in the bog, I’d once found a shriveled hand still covered in leathery skin.
I’m here for it so far

Can it give me the fix I’m looking for?????

😫

😫 gud

Yo what the hell? It’s a tragedy?? 😭

Natalie Naudus, the audiobook reader ever. I cannot believe the developments in this one 🤪🤪😱😱🥶😭😮‍💨😮‍💨
