I kept thinking I'd come back to this one, but alas...

Forgot to add… skimming started at about 65%.

Started out so well! Hit 65% and the poorly written sex scenes started.

- too much focus on sex
- too many exclamation points
- too many “the Emprean said”, “the Aerial said”
- Cassius acting like simpering milquetoast

I do believe I'll DNF this. It's messy, it's cluttered, it's far too light for this reader's liking.

I'm less that 20% in and my interest is fading fast. I'll give it some time as I really like Meghan's stories.

The pacing is finally picking up! And things are getting very exciting...

So damned disappointed the author decided to include a major focus on not one but two het romances in what this reader thought was a MM romance. Sick of skimming.

I have a huge problem with authors who write about wild animals who don't do their research. This author knows little about wolves and wild cats. No appreciable research. No evidence of knowledge about how wild cats mark territory and can be tracked. None about kinetics and anatomy or how they hunt or fight. Makes a good story idea fail miserably. Continuously pulls me out and generally pisses me off.

Overwhelmed by too many plot threads, difficult to track. Stumbling block. Too many simultaneous events. No strong central thread like the first book.

What a god-awful extended scene between Conner and Judd. Utter drivel.

So. I loved GL Carriger's first book in her San Andreas Shifters series, disliked the second one, oh and didn't like the little prequel either. I had to think awhile about buying the third one, The Enforcer Enigma. Reviews from readers I follow are all over the place. :::sigh::: I'm going to give it whirl.

One would think, as long as this story has been circulating with Patreon members, that it would be flawlessly edited. Oh dear... nope.

This is not going well. FAR TOO MUCH TELL and not enough show.

Wow, I’m trying to remember the last book that shocked me with the sheer excessive amount of narrative, the substantial level of entirely too much tell and very little show. Add to that the fact I don’t like anyone, and the melodrama between the primary protagonist and his father, and that’s enough to set this book aside.

Interesting story, poorly executed. Desperately needs an editor. I’m done.

Oh good grief. MORE IS NOT BETTER. This is a chore. Far, far too much tell.

This book wins first prize for an avalanche of ”tell” and two snowflakes of “show”. Unbelievable.

I'm sorry I didn't remember Walker's sophomoric writing. Wow. Not my cuppa. DNF

Who the heck edited this book? No one. Missing words. Flat out wrong words.

Just a note. Writing is a bit dull and quite mechanical. Feels like a child’s tale.

Reality Bites by SC Wynne. Excellent characterizations, I adored both Jax and grumpy Decker, but I couldn't check enough disbelief at the door. Damned upset the author didn't do her research on captive big cats to understand there is no such thing as being safe in a fucking cage with one. No such thing as "trustworthy" tiger. Takes but a second to flip that apex predator prey switch. Roy found out the hard way. 2.5*
