Maybe I sit here from my 21st century vantage point but I have to ask myself. How could it not be evident that a revolution could be exported or that peoples are different than their rulers? I feel like Hobsbawm doesn’t really address or set up any proof suggesting that this was something that had to be found out. I’m unless I understood the chapter incorrectly.

We’re so different and move through the world so differently. Makes me take pause and ask more questions about what others are going through and their concerns

This book is literally just a 2024 adaptation of Manifesto of Futurism by F. Marinetti, 1909. Like almost point by point

So far i think Karp makes some good points about the greatest engineering minds being put to work on trivial consumer products but i think the book was published 15 years too late. It argues too strongly that big tech is completely disinterested from government while ignoring the already massive military industry.

Initially thought this book would be super basic but Stanley is very thoughtful and provides a goldmine of references. I have a deluge of new books to check out

This book it’s really good at weaving and concepts from economics into a personal narrative. I think it succeeds in explaining it while making the narrative, compelling and relatable and many other similar types of books fail. I really do think everyone in their 20s should read this.

Reading this alongside Wolves of K St changes my perception of the Clintons. Many are too harsh on HRC. She followed the rules, but failed to anticipate the rapidly changing landscape. I’m also surprised by the intensity of the Bernie campaign, which has been downplayed.
