Watkins makes the error of thinking that making characters go through compounding traumatic experiences is the same as having real tension and character development.

Every single character in this (and there are many) is a miserable, evil sex offender or a directionless victim who enacts their harm onto others.

None of the characters have a discernible motive. Will finish this and then say more.

rita dove why on earth would you run down the plot beat by beat in the FOREWARD? are you crazy? the publisher should have included this as an afterward or note at the end of the book because retelling the story in the forward is kinda insane..

reading "leaving cecil street" by DMW. i have so many questions. but first, a comment: who was the editor for this book? there's enough awkward phrasing and unnecessary words in these pages for a disjointed flow. the characters and premise are very interesting, i'm just taken out of it by bad grammar and the changes in tense and sentence structure.

I hate Andre

Finishing "The Wedding" after slowly reading for two weeks. It's not boring at all, in fact I mostly enjoy the author's style and the character development/story arc. I've just been slow to pick up the book. It's probably this damn phone (and iPad).

Up next is "An American Marriage" by Tayari Jones. It will be my first book from her, and I've heard good things so I'm excited.
