Reading this book: yeah was this really necessary. I truly hope so.
Context: this is the first book of the second red rising trilogy following Darrow years after the first trilogy. The first trilogy ended amazingly, and I really hope this picks up soon

I watch the movie, I knew the bathroom scene (I did not know the bathroom scene, holy fuck I didn’t)
My favorite part currently was the whole scene with the mom, truly terrifying. Nothing is scarier than a religious fanatic mom.
The structure of the book is really interesting too. But I find it kinda hard to get into the writing style.

This is one of the cutest books I've ever read. Fuck star ratings, those kinds of books are just vibes, and the vibes are immaculate with this one.

Is there truly anything you more you need other then a grumpy sunshine, big city girl, small town boy, with a perfectly healthy relationship where you truly want them both to end up together, that doesn't rely on spice, and none of them is toxic??

No, it's perfect.

This really, sometimes the writing is confusing, and I have a hard time grasping what's going on (mainly due to a mechanism in this book about kinda like talking on the phone), but I just think it could've been communicated better.

Other than that, the story and the world are what keep me reading. I'm still waiting to learn more about the characters.

This feels like a really good video essay/documentary. It's so fun, and fascinating.

Karen is such a girl's girl, and is by far my favorite. Gaslighting, Gatekeep Girlboss.

The writing is way better than I thought it would be, there's some problems, like sometimes the dialogue between characters feels like it drags, and isn't flowing in the best of ways, but it doesn't detract from the energy I got from so many of those scenes.

Currently I'm waiting for it to pick up, for now I like it, but I don't love it.

The Audiobook is so good! It has a full cast of voice actors, and they're all doing an amazing job.

The story is fascinating, the characters are great, and the setting is so good it's hard to believe this is about a fake band. Daisy's story is already sounding like so many other female artists, and it's terrible as you'd expect the journey of a female artist in the 70s would be.

So fun, and so interesting.

It's so annoying that I'm literally crying on the bus, actual tears, but because of the controversy every single monologue, every single interaction, or lessons the characters are learning has this weird white-savior-complex aura to it. And it's just sad.

I wish this book wasn't based on the 60's scoop, but it is. And that is the most heartbreaking part about this book.

The writing style isn't really my type, but I'm not even 10% into the book, so it might change. The characters seem interesting. It feels a lot like Harry Potter, but more adult and with a less transphobic author.

What a cute and wholesome romance book about the impending death of two 18 years old boys❤️

This book feels so personal to me in WAY to many levels. It feels like it takes every part of me I choose to forget and put it in front of me.

I relate to this book in such a deep level it almost feels like Ocean Vuong looked into my life, and wrote a story that might not exactly replicate my life (or even in a close way) but in all the ways it felt, and the experiences I've had.

Ocean Vuong's writing is so beautiful. It's kinda discouraging to know I'll never write as beautifully as this.

This book feels like a story that was made in the author's head—which fair, it is—but it shouldn't feel like every beat, emotion, and conversation between characters, comes for the sake of an overarching narrative. Also, why did I just found out there are SA and abuse allegations against the author by their ex wife?? Kinda want to dnf now, but I'll push through.

This is such a visceral read. The writing hits like a truck, and it menages to be bone chillingly brutal without feeling overly gruesome or relying on gore.

This book is such an anomaly, I think I dislike it, and then Boom! 80 pages read in one sitting.

Coming back to this world after stopping Kafka on the shore is so refreshing!

Fuck this, it's so good, but Murukami is too much. There's no way he wrote the rape dream and told himself "yeah, that's a great scene to have in my book". I lived so much about this book, but there are some things where I draw the limits.

You could excuse the sexism as the voice of the character, but this showed me it was just from the mind of the author.
