I found the voices of the dolls a unique and effective device for the author to share more information about the trauma of each character. Learning about the Carlisle School in PA has sparked my interest to learn more about this shameful chapter of American history.

I listened to this book and found the narrator, Daniel Gamberg greatly added to my appreciation of Lev Golenkin's sardonic humor. His pronunciation of Russian and yiddish words leant authenticity and kept me looking up words I didn't know.
I discussed the book with friends in my 2nd book club

Ugh. Infuriating gimmic. I enjoyed researching author's bio and online buzz. The Economist for this reco wrong in my opinion.
