'Enemy of the People' was definitely an enjoyable read! I prefer Miller but I see why he chose to adapt this play, they both have thoughts on how we live in a society. A wonderful template of frustration for those who have ever tried to inform people of something dangerous using science just to get vilified and politically outmaneuvered e.g. global warming or the tobacco industry.

Half way through enemy of the people and every other line is just super solid. I love the succinct way they establish each character and how easily things go wrong for the doc. He wants to do a good thing and it's instantly spiralled out of control. Have stopped reading and will come back with a highlighter and pen to further appreciate some of these amazing lines!

The perspective in this book feels like a breath of fresh air after dealing with Snow. I think the characters are easy to get attached to which is dangerous for sure and there's a really good tension underlying everything which keeps you on edge! Great 😅

I already really enjoy this book, and I respect the author so much for trying to introduce a lot of political concepts to the younger generation but I can't help but wish she'd just write adult books, they'd be so good and i wouldn't have to keep reading about teen romances 😭

Things are getting intense! I feel so sorry for so many people and I know it wont work it out for nearly all of them 😭

Started it last night and nearly finished - an extremely interesting book and unfortunately a lot of the stuff reads true to the modern day so uhhhh that sucks.

Lots of outdated stuff too but the edition I have has a great reminder at the front "Our general approach is to leave the book as the author wrote it. [...] We encourage readers to consider the work critically and in its historical and social context."

I read this and i feel like im going crazy. How can I read a sentence that is half a page long and learn nothing new about the characters. HOW. 🫠

Picking this book up is like oh I'm not going to know what is going on it'll be great. Then I open the book and im like I dont get what's going on 😧 then I get to page 2 and I'm like I see what's going on 😡 then I get to the next few pages and im like WHAT IS GOING ON 😭 i cant say its good yet but im interested for now!

First case down, a scandal in bohemian is such a classic. Irene Adler is quite literally That Bitch and we love her. Go off queen 🥰

Hesitantly trusting this to have a satisfying conclusion, this is not my genre but it is quite interesting!! 🤞🤞🤞🤞

I'm already so obsessed, the writing is so lush and the amount of atmosphere in the first chapter alone is stunning. I keep reaching for a pencil to underline things but then convince myself to just stay immersed in it. The copy i have has little footnotes showing lines that got rewritten or removed and it informs so much of the intention of the book. I'm so excited to read this!!

This is so good! So much mystery vuy gpsh the tension is so pervasive in all the conversations.
