Rereading this because I’ve been struggling (and failing) to find something I really like and I kept remembering that scene where sick, needy Caleb climbs onto Whit’s lap when his cousin’s come over. So yeah… it’s helping. 🥰

I hate the dirty talk in those so much.

I, and I want to emphasize this, HATE cheating in romance books. Even, and sometimes especially if the mc’s are cheating to be with each other. I saw it in the trigger warnings and still chose to read, so it’s absolutely on me, but it just proved I am still pretty against it as a romance trope.

Gah!! Why is she so annoying?! I get this is ya… or something, but she is honestly the most frustrating, immature fmc I’ve encountered in a really long time. I do not like her. At all.

I don’t understand when this book is supposed to have taken place in the series timeline… Jax is currently in the middle of his and Mike’s story, but Jace’s hasn’t started yet?? Or has it?? I’m so lost because none of the Xave stuff seems familiar or to tie in with past books. So when the hell is this taking place?

Is 7 pgs of describing the architecture of one building really necessary? I have never felt more of an urge to skim.

I find the fmc so fucking annoying. I get that this is YA, but can she maybe be less of a whiny bitch? I’d really appreciate it. Also, they are sixteen. What the fuck do they know of true love?! Not sure if I’ll continue this or not. The audio is decent enough, so maybe?

This is riddled with continuity errors and the dialogue reads like it was written by someone too young to be allowed to curse properly… and they know it. Not loving this so far, but it’s like a train wreck and I can’t put it down… yet. I don’t see myself finishing it, though. I’m sure it will become too much to ignore at some point.

What does it say about me that I’m reading one of the purest, mostly angst free, slow burns with a mmc with ALL THE GREEN FLAGS and… I’m kinda wanting to start something else… maybe with some conflict and drama and a morally charcoal mmc because apparently I thrive on that shit?? Never mind… pretty sure I don’t wanna know.
