Absolutely loving and craving for the flashback chapters. The author captures the innate horror of Appalachian gothic better than I could have expected

Complicated in the way that I can barely understand the old Appalachian slang and bible-speak, but easy in the way that sliding on your favorite pair of shoes is. Full of alliteration and metaphor, I would almost call the writing a take on poetry.

It’s certainly making me ask some questions of myself and my life, but in an exceptionally different way than I expected.

Beautifully composed, with lovely red, yellow and blue artwork throughout. Color is used as a method of story telling - yellow for the past, pink for the current day and blue for the fantasy world they read a story from. The chapters read in such a way that you feel you’re going about the day to day motions with the characters.
