This book is so long, but so very good.

Whitely, blackly, redly. Anjelica? No, now it's Angelica. There's some glaring writing quirks and inconsistency already.

I am just speechless with how this book is turning out. Now I get why it's so highly recommended.

I was not expecting a spicy lizard humanoid scene, and I hope to never encounter one again.

This is my second Jennifer Fallon series, and I've come to realize her greatest strength is her ability to create the most hate-worthy villains. These guys piss me off so bad.

The silly, descriptive writing was fun at first. Now, it's just exhausting. :(

What a great start to the year. I usually digest books one chapter at a time, but Brain's writing claws at your brain until you keep going. It's like an addictive mystery thriller in that you must. Know. What. Happens!

I was so worried I was going to hate this, but even this early on I keep stopping to admire how beautifully this man writes.

The Bug Man (Tchaikovsky) has done it again. This is so good! The humor makes for a great reading palette cleanser.

Well that was a disappointing Revelation. Ugh.

If this is his weaker series, then I need to move up First Law in my TBR...

My first spacey sci-fi has been slow going, but I'm getting there! It was jarring being yanked around the plot, but I'm finally accepting this is the point. Might read book two after all.

Ah. I see why people have been calling this Horror Fantasy. Wow.

Rereading this gem so I can finish the series with the plot nice and fresh in my mind.

I'm trying so hard to finish this, but it's torture. I was so hyped. Now I feel like this is some big prank. It's so bad. :(

I was worried about what others were saying about the 2nd person narrative, but I'm not seeing an issue with it so far.

Otherwise, my only discomfort is how dark the story is. Not a deal breaker, but you need a strong stomach with some of these scenes.

So many intense predicaments for 4 different POVs. What a nail biter!

I didn't realize how much comedy would be in this book, and it is genuinely funny too.

Necromancy, WWI era technology, Eldritch horror cats, and a girl with a magical sword? Clearly I should have been reading this sooner. Dang.

If this is her worst written book, the rest of the Essalieyan series must be top tier. Already we got evil gods, hell spawn, and a mysterious time traveling seeress. We get small bits of information about the overall world that is eventually going to be expanded on in later works. I'm here for it.
