I love good food, French butter, and 70s nyc. I tend to dislike overly verbose curmudgeonly men but I suppose I can make an exception.

off to a bit of a bad start, the blonde French babies in the speech therapy waiting room are constantly triggering me so I am having a difficult time getting into the book. Also, I am listening to the audio book and Donna Tartt’s voice is driving me absolutely insane, this cannot be her normal voice ? if she is putting on a fake voice then why does it still have a southern drawl if the narrator is from California

dense, fun, spooky plot. Love the all of the Chicago references and Paris mentions. Olmsted as a fictionalized character was not on my radar before reading this, the larch representation is unmatched!! Unfortunately the prose is not there, it ungulates between reading like a wiki article and a wattpad fanfiction. Maybe it will get better soon
