why am i torturing myself 😭

finished labour, the first section of the book. i can feel my brain expanding since i've been able to put stories to the names i've seen or heard in passing. a little challenging to read, but interesting so far.

wtf am i reading rn

had to stop myself from reading more, so safe to say i'm devouring this. love the writing style sm.

ugh. what a slog.

so insanely good whew. i do not know how i feel about earthseed and the ideas of religion yet, but i love everything else.

i feel like this entire book is just kuang saying "look how much i know about the classics!" and i wish i could speak to what her representation is like, except i don't know enough about them to have an opinion worth hearing.

besides that (or rather, as a consequence of it) i don't really care for the story.

this book is drawing from lanka's history of colonization, and the recurring insurgencies post independence. i'm not certain how i feel of it being very close to the real thing, but not being given the name. i guess it's too early in the book to come to a conclusion. i do love the writing though!
