halfway through the second book in a series is a really unfortunate place to realize i just,,, don’t like these characters. some of them are okay,, sometimes. but most of the time they are kind of awful

and im really not sure why “luc forgives someone that did something absolutely horrid to him and doesn’t actually seem very sorry” is such a persistent theme

i loooove both the main characters they’re so fun and interesting

especially li xiao. in fact i think he should be allowed to go on as many murdering sprees as he wants

reading this book is the exact opposite of escapism. awfully depressing and i hate every character (may dnf idk yet)
