My perspective: law student who spent her first summer in a prosecutor’s office. I started there with hesitation towards the practice. But I grew to appreciate criminal prosecution. So I wanted to read a perspective about a victim to the crim justice system.

The book: INCREDIBLE and ENGAGING read. Very insightful. Touches on racism, (obv) misogyny, homophobia etc. IN SOCIETY not just the crim system.

Bruuuhhh. Kinda mid. It has so much potential but it’s corny ass poetry. The ideas are fun to ruminate over tho!

ERM GREAT READ SO FAR. I want to meet these characters irl and pick at their big brains bc they know nothing but Greek and everything about Greek and that’s fascinating

It’s 12:30 AM. They’re SO in love. And they spent the whole night awake. And together. And it’s SO FORBIDDEN. but it GOT ME KICKIN MY FEET N SHI. Anyways I put it down before their sun rose. So I can bask in their love. But AH. I DONT WANT THEIR LOVE TO END.

Loving this book so far. Darkhanai and Asfandyar have such lowkey feelings for each other that they’re not supposed to have. I also love that the romance in this is obviously the main plot, but still a subplot within the politics of the city states. I really hope this book doesn’t disappoint 🤗

They’ve already had an interaction and it’s giving enemies to lovers and I’m so excited bc it’s not written in an ass way. I have so many hopes for this

Still Mid lol. She keeps comparing her new man to her old man and I get WHY, but put some respect on his name. It’s a very regular story. I wish the verbiage for their feelings were more descriptive. To get an actual sense of the emotion. It’s like in Romeo and Juliet when they meet, and after a day Juliet is like “I can’t stop thinking about him” like WHY THO????? ur giving nothing!!

Lowkey mid as hell. I wish Romance books didn’t sound like the wattpad fanfics I read when I was 14. Give me some character buildinggggg. “My ex of 7 years fricked his co worker” is NOT character building!!!! Like lowkey After was written better than this. Maybe….. I should read after again lolss. But anyways. Gonna try to get further into it.

Some parts r sooo corny. but I’m reading it for nostalgic purposes. Waiting for the fight scene

Ok the beginning is confusing. There’s a lot of changing settings and characters and stuff. And it’s not clear how it’s gonna come together. But there’s still like 500 something pages left so we have some time for it to make sense. Good read so far tho. Very well written

I’m a little too stupid for this book. Kinda need to be familiar with words/ characters of the crusades time in Persia to keep up with it. Requires a lot of googling terms for me. But that’s okay. Very curious as to how this plot develops. I hope it gets kinda lovey dovey.

But the author does a good job of portraying the emotions and letting us feel them

The book has grown on me!!! I feel like I’m at a very self reflective stage in my life, so her self reflections and growth are very interesting to read. I don’t personally relate to this girl very much (there are some parts I do) but I find personal growth so beautiful. And she’s just talkin ab all that so I love it. I do wish I loved this book more but that’s okay. I’m content w it

Odd so far bc it’s not really relatable to me, but also at the same time she discusses a literal universal experience lmao. Interested in getting past the boy stories and getting to the good stuff

Very easy read. A lot of life lessons and it’s kinda corny in that way. I feel like I can predict a bit of what’s gonna happen but I’ve heard there’s a plot twist ending. So ig we’ll see. I’m like half way thru. I thought it’d be like a super leisure read, which it is technically but there’s a lot to sit down and dissect and digest as well to learn from it.

Great book. Very informative read. A lot of groups of people to keep track of which is typical for history LOL. very interesting take on world history. We normally learn it from a very European lens but this changes it up and teaches it from an Islamic perspective
