I’m starting to feel like there’s a certain way male writers write women and romances and idk how much more of it I can take ;-;

This story was as warm and fragrant as apple blossom tea and after chugging it I will be coming back for another cup.

Fun story with a lot of heart, but I felt myself wanting for more depth in the worldbuilding and characters outside the main character. Also I felt like the writing style wasn’t really my favorite, although the handbook excerpts were hilarious.

Interesting premise and characters but it really just reads like a fanfiction with the distracting authors notes and crossover cast. Not bad but not my cup of tea

I’ve honestly forgotten how much I like crossovers - the book is picking up speed and I’m finally getting interested

This book is lowkey testing me bc there’s these in-world “author’s” notes that take me out of the narrative (like literally, characters will interject in the middle of the story) and it sounds like a fun idea on paper but it’s so annoying after the first, like, three

I feel like it’s a good introductory book to mindfulness and more cooperative or collectivist way of living

absolutely GOATed trilogy. it was so impressive how much collins managed to cram into mockingjay without it feeling too overstuffed. there were a lot more complicated topics like warfare, propoganda, and grief i think she did a fantastic job at communicating to YA audiences. i teared up at so many points in this book. 1000/5 stars.

I really wasn’t enjoying this book at the start but it surprised me bc Harpman goes beyond the surface question of “what would a woman’s life be like without knowing men.” Instead, she strips absolutely everything away, from biological processes, to societal constructs, to spatial and temporal concepts, and asks how life would be like having never known anything at all. Ugh, this book is HAUNTING.

Certain characters were written a bit messy and I fear the romance all felt very insta-lovey, but I do like all the twists and turns of the story. Not sure yet if I want to continue.

gonna switch over to ebook, I’m not sure it translates well to audio book bc characters sort of interject in the story through “notes”
