A character I disagree with often is Tito Manning. He always claims that his son Jun was a "disgrace" (Ribay 210). The upbringing and oppressively mindset of tito might have caused him to be so critical of Jun's disobedient actions even if they may me morally proper, because he was a officer.

When Reyna began “crying” whilst Jun and Mia talk to her my suspicions arose (Ribay 212). Whilst conversing initially Reyna is very conservative and doesn’t want to talk to them. However apparently a blurry picture of potentially someone who is Jun sparks get to open up? I found it interesting that she went from passive to opening up and crying in-front of them so quickly.

In the book Jay feels alienated form his family in the Philippines. He does not feel like he belongs especially because of Tito Manning being confrontational and critical of Jay. For example when at the museum Jay makes a remark regarding to journalist to which Tito responds, "Are you an idiot?" ( Ribay 156). This makes Jay feel dumb even though he is probably better versed than Tito in foreign affairs.

In my book the name Santa Nino was mentioned turns out it a figure of Christianity and Filipino culture. Specifically "Child Jesus" is the term that Filipinos call it. The deity was gifted to the Philippines by Christopher Columbus in the age of exploration.
