Something about this book intrigued me, but I never was fascinated with Mark Twain. However, as I started to read, I got pulled into the world Percival Everett created. The author makes you feel as real slavery could be and so powerful from the perspective of Jim. Great read about a time in the American past that collectively we talk about at a high level…but this brought the story to life.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. A mix of storytelling and a lot of scientific aspects on how fungi remain under appreciated. I particularly liked the authors looping style that would revisit concepts. I don’t read in one sitting usually and this helped to reinforce ideas.

I'm not excited to finish this book, but I will. Because like Haruki I structure my life around weird rules.
