Sara is starting The Gentleman from Peru
I hope this gets better. I’m getting a distinctly Jonathan Livingston Seagull meets K-Pax vibe wrapped up in bow for Chocolat fans. The gentleman pontificating about the lemon reminds me of Larry Ray lecturing his cult about the proper way to dunk Ding Dongs in milk.

Might not finish, but it’s bad movie compelling.
This guy is Jackie Harvey from The Onion.

Chpt 1: Oh my god! It suddenly hit me(recently). What if stories have the power to influence our actions?!”
🙄
Next chapter: “MY Ph.D. is in literary studies. It’s MY job to understand how they work.”

🙄

“Don’t believe me? Let me tell YOU a story.”Tells creepy, hackneyed story about a man stalking a woman. Explains that as a storyteller HE has the POWER to dictate this girl’s fate.

Sara is 55% done with Lost and Wanted
I don’t know if I’ll finish. This is the most vapid thing I’ve read in years.

Sara is starting The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
This is one of those compulsively readable books that you pick up right when you’ve got a million other things to do. Aaaaaaaahhhh

Sara is on page 20 of 261 of Horror Stories: A Memoir
Twenty pages in and I am calling it. This memoir (so far) is brilliant. BRILLIANT! Like listening to Exile in Guyville (or Whip-Smart--yeah, that was the one that hooked me) for the first time, but filtered all the more painfully through that lens of middle-aged hindsight.
