One shocking part was when Mother and Jonas frogot Linas birthday. The frogot the birthday but got everyone together and said happy birthday. "I did. I thought you frogot"
"We didnt froget."(229) This shows that everyone in the camp supports eachother through the tough times.

One suprising part was when the gaurds told mother to just dig. While in the camp the gaurds have everyone line up and tell mother to dig. " I dont know where to dig,I think here will be fine"(122) This is suprising because they told her to just dig a random hole

One suprising part was when the kids escaped the cattle car to look for there fathers. The siblings had met with another kid to look for there fathers while they were separated."We need to go find our fathers" (60) This shows how desperate the kids are that they will risk there lives to see there father.

I was suprised when the bald man jumped out of the KVDA truck. He did this because he knew it was his best option. "The bald man needed care to his leg" This shows how ruthless the Soviets where forcing a man kill himself instead of suffering in the Soviet camps.

One schocking part was when Mercedes finnaly broke the record at the autobahn. A year earlier Mercedes tryed to beat the record but crashed over the banked corner."His average speed over the two runs was 268.5 mph. It was a new world class record."(215) This is shocking because it was not ideal weather for breking the record.

One shocking moment was when the Talbot owner said he dosent care if the car explodes just drive fast. He says this just before the race and the team is in a slump of DNFs."Just go as fast as you can It okay of you break down"(143). This is shocking because a team owner would not want to break down because of the costs.

One suprising part was when Rene won the Monaco gp. Before the race Rene said that they should add another fuel tank so they dont have to refuel. "Rene you won the race"said his brother(110). This is shocking becuase if this didnt work they would have lost the race

One shocking part was when Rene won a race at such a young age. This is the La Turbie hillclimb and Rene is in the small engine class with only a few others. He is a young 20 year old trying to go professional, his mother has to sign a contract allowing him to race. "Rene clocked the sixth fastest time, 1st in his category beating his rival by over a minute and a half."(6) This is shocking because hes so young.

One shocking moment is when both Katniss and Peeta win the games together. This is near the very end of the games and the gamemaker changed there mind and said only one winner. After they hear that they plan to kill themselves."Stop stop stop the games are over, your winners Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mallark." (353) This shows that the gamemakers only care about the show and if noone wins its bad Rep.

One suprising part is when Thresh saves Katniss at the cornucopia. This happens later in the games when there is less than half the tributes they started with. "I let you go. For the little girl". Thresh did this because Katniss was so nice to rue and they are in the same distric so they are now even.

One shocking part is when Rue tells Katniss that the trackerjacker nest is near. This happens when the Carrers are sleeping below."lookout for the Trackerjacker nest". This is shocking because the Trackertrackers can cuase alot of trouble and Rue may have saved Katniss.

One shocking event is when Katniss noticed Rue in the tree. This happens when Katniss is sleeping and when she wakes up and sees Rue. "How long has she been here?"(184) This is shocking because it proves the Rue is one of the sneaky tributes and maybe a friend to Katniss.

One shocking part is when Peeta says he likes Katniss. This happens during the interview before the games. "Winning wont do much because she came here with me"(119) This is shocking because we dont know if he really likes her or if it is apart of the plan to get sponsors.

One interesting part is when Teresa is told by WICKED to kill Thomas. Teresa was told by WICKED to kill Thomas but she dosent know if she can do it."We dont have a choice. WICKED said that was our only task". (271)This is interesting because Thomas and Teresa have been great friends ever since she arrived in the maze. This makes sense because Teresa was nicknamed the Betrayer by WICKED.

One surprising part was when the other gladers said they hear the thump from the sky before Thomas did.Everyone else had heard a noise form the sky except Thomas until he heard it it was a thumping noise. "The others heard it before he did.Minho and everyone else were suddenly scrambling, searching for something.Then Thomas heard the heavy thumps."(237)This shows that maybe Thomas wasn't supposed to hear the noise.

One suprising part was when the heard a voice from the sky. Surprisingly it was not just a voice but a face aswell.We looked up and there was the face if a young hispanic boy. This is surprising because they did not expect a voice to come from the sky let alone a voice

One shocking part was when the name changed on the mysterious room.This is shocking because the sign changed while they where in the room and did not hear it." Instead of saying Teresa Agnes Group A Subject A! The Betrayer it now said Aris Jones Group B Subject B1 The Partner.The reason of this shocking event is unknown but they mush figure out why there are two different groups.

One shocking part was when Alby ran to fight the grievers.This is shocking because Alby did not even know the plan on how they would escape the maze."Maybe I should . . ."(332) This shows that Alby was willing to sacrifice himself to let everyone else survive. This may not have worked because the other gladers did not take the chance but maybe if they did they all could escape.

One surprising part was when alby said that Thomas was an act and couldn't get hurt from grievers. This is surprising because if true Thomas could easily get through the griever hole.“Maybe that was a trick to gain our trust. If you’re in league with the shucks who sent us here,
you wouldn’t have had to worry about the Grievers hurting you—maybe it was all an act.”(310). If its actually an act they might just escape.

One shocking part was when all the boys woke up the sun had disappeared and the sky was all grey. This was Thomas's second day of traing to be a runner."looks like a big grey ceiling almost like you could touch it".(219) This proves its shocking because they all thought that the sky was natural but turns out it not.

One shocking part was when Thomas was called to the keepers. He was called to meet the keepers about his recent actions of entering the maze when he wasn't supposed to and then surviving in the maze."As you all,the last few days have been bloody crazy, and quite a bit seems centered around our Greenbean,Tommy,seated before us". (152) This proves that it was shocking as he survived in the maze and still had a meeting.

One confusing part was when Minho came back and said he saw a dead griever. Minho came back early from running and collapsed when he got back up he told every one he saw a dead griever. "I found a dead one." "Huh?" Alby asked. " A dead what?" Minho smiled. " A dead griever."(84). This proves that it was confusing because no one in the group knew that a griever could die they all thought they were invincible.

One socking part was when the girl showed up in the elevator two days after Thomas. The lift is only supposed to bring boys every month and after Thomas arrived none of the boys expected the alarm to go off and in the box was a girl.Newt looked down in the box one more time, then faced the crowed gravely"its a girl".(54) Newt's reaction demonstrates that this is a shocking event for the characters,

One character trait of Luella is she's compassionate. After Roger tried to steal Luella's purse. After that happens she did not turn him into the police instead she took him to her home so he can wash his face."Um-hum! And your face is dirty. I got a great mind to wash your face for you. Ain't you got nobody at home to tell you to wash your face." (1) This proves shes compassionate as she could have turned Roger in.

An important part was when the boy got the jacket. The boy wished for a nice black jacket but got a jacket the color of day old guacamole. "I discovered draped on my bedpost a jacket the color of day old guacamole" (1). This proves that the jacket was important to the boys life because of how sad and depressed. This was because he hated the jacket so much.
