Yanek is sympathetic. The prisoners were forced to do a death march for many days with very little food. Yanek noticed that someone his age was falling behind, so he helped him. "Within just a few meters I stumbled under the weight of him, but I didn't let go." (175). This proves Yanek is kind because this act made him more likely to fall behind and get shot, but Yanek still decided to be nice and help him anyway.

Doctor Mengele is heartless. The prisoners were being lined up to either be sent to the left to die or to the right to work. A family was in front of Yanek. When it was their turn, their fate was decided. "He waved his baton to the right for the man and to the left for the woman and the little boy."(150) This proves Doctor Mengele is unsympathetic because he saw they were a family, and still decided to split them up.

One important part was when a prisoner tried to attack a Nazi. A Nazi was beating someone up, so he fought back and was shot. 6 innocent others were killed with him. Before this, Yanek had wanted to fight back. "To fight back was to die quickly and to take others with you." (111). This shows this was a major part of the story because Yanek learned what happened to people who acted in this way, so he lost more hope.

Yanek is strong. At the concentration camp, Yanek saw his uncle there too, the last member of his family. They had a strong connection. Yanek found out his uncle was killed, so he was devastated. "As the Nazis went through roll call I fought back my tears." (86). This proves Yanek has fortitude because anyone would break down in tears if the last of their relatives died, but he held them back and didn't give up.

(Ignore my last post, it was a mistake.) Yanek's father is brave. Yanek saw him sneaking out late at night. If he was caught, he would be killed. He let Yanek to come with him. "I began to realize where we were going: Uncle Abraham's bakery! The Nazis had let him keep it to bake bread for the soldiers." (21). This proves Yanek's father is corageous because he risked his life just to get the family some extra food.

Yanek is extremely strong. At the consentration camp, uncle Moshi inspired Yanek to not give up. When the news came to Yanek that he, his last relative, was killed, he was devistated. "As the Nazis went through roll call I fought back my tears." (86). This proves Yanek has a lot of fortitude because anyone would probably break down into tears if their last relative died, but he held them back and didn't give up.

The author is foreshadowing something bad. Remi was walking in the halls to go to the bathroom at night. He heard something in the hallway. "I knew I was the only one in this hallway, I know I didn't just imagine the footsteps." (83). This proves the author is foreshadowing another attack because the footsteps were trying to be hidden, so the murderer must be there, trying to plan something.

Philibert will be the next one to get killed. While Remi was visiting Culbert, Philibert came to blame Culbert for the murder. "The door opened, and it was Philibert, accompanied by four others he collected for his side." (63). This shows he'll be the next one murdered because he is good at blaming people and getting others to agree with him, so the murderer wouldn't take any chances of their identity being revealed.

I was surprised when Culbert came in and announced what he witnessed. The principal called him in to say who's figure he saw roaming near the area of the murder. "When he announced the name, I couldn't believe my ears. It was me." (48) This shows that this scene is shocking, because Culbert is the main characters friend, and he still said that it was him, even though they both knew he didn't commit the crime.

The criminal who killed M. Cornue will probably kill again. When Remi arrived to his science class, he was shocked to see what happened near the room. "on the other door, the one that opens onto the courtyard, the inanimate body of Mr. Cornue, the natural science assistant..."(17) This shows another person will be murdered because the criminal was sneaky and didn't get caught, meaning it can happen again.

Starkey is a villan. He is making a fake academy to hide all the storks and himself. As he is signing the guest registry, he is thinking how much of a hero he is. However, before, Elina told Lev something very intelligent. "No true hero ever believes that they are one," (246). This proves Starkey isn't a hero because he believes he is one. He has also resulted in many deaths and he still thinks he is a savior.

Lev's dream was a sign that he might change something in the future. In his dream, he was supposed to bring down the moon. "If he tears down the moon, everything will change. People everywhere will have to adapt to a new reality." (144) This proves his dream is forshadowing the future because the moon symbolizes unwinding and the government. He is meant to tear them down, and the world would completely change.

Risa and CiFi will become enemies. Risa got saved by CiFi and stayed with him for a while. She saw how different parts of Tyler came together and communicated. She got mad at him. "Now what are you doing? Nothing but indulging the childish whims of a troubled unwound kid." (131) This shows that they will be enemies because even though they got over the arguemnt, they will probably get into more and hate each other.

More kids will get unwound. After one of Cam's speeches, a letter was written to the editor. "Proactive Citizenry is to be commended for their selfless commitment to the betterment of the human condition... it gives me hope for the future of mankind." (97) This shows more teens will be unwound because if people like the idea of creating a "perfect human", they will create more, requiring more people to be unwound.

Argent is a mean person. He kidnapped Connor and tied him up in the basement. Argent's older sister with mental problems was there with them too. Each time she said something, Argent would yell and throw things at her. "Grace is like a dog. Sometimes you gotta shake a can at her."(22). This proves that he is cruel because he treats her like an animal and thinks she can't do anything just because she isn't normal.

Starkey is a bad leader. The plane with the saved storks was sinking in the lake and many were dying. They had to leave quickly in order to survive. "Starkey's instinct is to get out now... but if he's going to be seen as the protector of storks, he must be their protector in action, not just words."(373). This shows he's a poor leader because he only cares about himself and fame, not about actually saving them.

Cam has become more independent. He found out that Roberta forced Risa to sign the contract with threats. He was mad, so he ran away and got hurt. When Roberta tried to help him, he refused.""Im not a dog that got off its leash, so don't treat me like one!""(300). This proves that Cam is relying less on Roberta because before, he used to agree with everything Roberta said. Now he is starting to form his own opinions.

How Lev's parents acted when they saw him again was cruel. Marcus was hurt, and at the hospital, Lev's parents went to see him. When Lev saw them, they weren't warm and welcoming. ""Are you satisfied now? Are you happy with the results of your actions?""(188)This shows that his parents were cold and rigid when they saw him again because they didn't even say how they missed him. All they could say was how bad Lev was.

Risa could have come up with a smarter plan at the hospital. A kid was going to be brought to a harvest camp. Risa offered to be taken instead. She threatened that she would explode them all if the cop didn't accept. ""All I have to do is bring my hands together to crack it open."" (159) The cop accepted. This shows that she could have thought of a better plan because they could have both gone back to the graveyard.

Starkey is clever. He was a stork that arrived at the Graveyard and was against Connor ever since. He's been coming up with a smart plan to take him down for a while. "It's not about tearing Connor down, it's about rotting his roots." (111). This shows that Starkey's sneaky because he's not directly destroying Connor. Instead, he's making people not support him. It's an intelligent plan that could demolish Connor.

Risa is sympathetic. When Connor woke up, he saw that Risa was in a wheelchair and couldn't walk. She told him that she could have gotten an Unwind's body parts to be able to walk again, but she chose not to. "They fix it by replacing a severed spine with the spine of an Unwind. That's why I refused the operation." (321) This shows that Risa is sympathetic because she was about to be unwound and was against it.

Roland deserved a second chance. Connor, Risa and Roland arrived at the harvest camp. He almost killed Conner. The guards took him in by surprise to be unwound. "I need more time. Another day. That's all. One more day. l'II be ready tomorrow. l promise!"(287) This proves that Roland deserves at least another chance because he can change. He can at least redeem himself and say his last goodbyes before he gets unwound.

One disappointing part was when the Mob blamed all the deaths and disappearances on the Admiral. Many people went missing and died, so the Unwinds started destroying the area. "The study jets, the dormitory jets, even the recreation jet-everything is being torn apart, and whatever can burn is set aflame." (248) This shows that this part is despondent because the Mob blames the Admiral without any evidence.

One part that probably shows foreshadowing was when the Admiral smiled. The Admiral gave a speech to the Unwinds that arrived at the graveyard. When he smiled, his teeth were too perfect. "It's a strange disconnect, because while his teeth are sparkling, the rest of him seems worn down to the nub. This most likely shows foreshadowing because he probably doesn't help the kids. He gets them unwound to benefit himself!

One important part was when CiFi told Lev about how part of his brain makes him steal things. He lost control over himself and stole a shiny decoration. A while later, Lev showed CiFi a piece of jewelery from the ones that CiFi told him to hide. That made him tell Lev about his brain.""I'm seven-eighths me, and one-eight him""(138). This shows that this is a major part of the story because Lev now knows and can help.
