I was shocked that the prisoners had to follow such strict rules. In the camp Louie was placed, they had various rules that were unjust. For example ¨Any attempt they made to protect theselves-ducking, shielding their faces-provoked more violence¨(149). This quote shows how cruel the guards were; I think this was unnecessary because reacting is a human reflex. This is why I think the rules where so strict.

It was amazing how Louie survived a plane crash, even though he didnt belive he would. The green hornet, a plane Louie was flying was crashing into the ocean. Louie said ¨Nobody´s going to live through this¨(99). Although Louie thought this was true he ended up clmbing his way through the destruction to get himself to saftey. This shows that Louie was incredable for surviving the crash; while thnking he wouldn´t.

I think it was very immiture of Louie to play pranks on others. Louie would pass the time by playing pranks. "Louie tugged the chains, making the plane swoop up and down" (62). This was very dangerous of him becuase the plane could have easily crashed, and the crew could of died. I dont think this was very smart of Louie, and he should not have been playing such dangerous jokes.

I was shocked when the opposing teams decided to hurt Louie. Louie was on track for a four minute mile. His coach warned him that people wanted to hurt him, so he would not win. He didn't belive it. A little after the begining of the race a man "...elbowed Louie's chest so hard, he cracked louies rib" (43). This was suprising because I would not think others would go so far to win.

I was shocked when Belly's mom told Belly to give back her wedding ring. Jer and Belly got engaged. They decided to tell their families at a restaurant. Their parents did not react positively and left the restaurant immediately. Belly followed her mom into her car and thats when her mom said "Your returning that ring..."(110). This was surprising because I thought Belly's mom would be happy belly was getting married.

I was suprised when Joy asked Belly to hang out. Belly was sitting on her bed and she heard Joy and her friends partying in her dorm. She wanted join, but she didn´t want to go uninvited. Shortly after Joy peeped into Bellys room and said, ¨Isabel, come hang with us¨(83). This was shocking because I didnt think Belly would be invited to go party with Joy.

I was shocked when Belly refused to go to Cabo with Jer. For spring break, Jer's fraternity got cheap tickets to Cabo. Belly thought that it was an all-boys trip, but when she found out that a few girls were where going, she got worried. Jer said she could come with him. Belly responded with, "...I'm not going to Cabo. Im going home"(27). This was shocking since, Belly hates being separated from Jer.

I was shocked when Gretas doctor assumed an illness. Greta recently got her blood work done. Her parents got a call from the hospital that weren't so good, so they took her in. The doctors found out that she wasn't eating right. This is because of her autism. The nurses claimed ¨Its not unusual among girls in early puberty¨(25). This was suprising because the doctors assumed she had an ed and did not look into it.

I was shocked when mother told belly to leave. Belly went to the summer house to fetch conrad , buty ended up staying for a little while. While Belly was drunk she accidentaly called her mom. Her mom showed up and told Belly "You have 5 minutes tpo pack up your stuff" (210). I was suprised because I didnt think her mom would find her at the summer house; especially to come get her.

I was shocked when Conrad stood up to his dad. Mr. Fischer was selling the summer house, but Con wouldnt let that happen, since it was his mothers. Mr. Fischer got angry and said that he lost Susanna too. Con stood up for himself and said "You didnt lose her, you left her"(161). Conrad usally just sit back and let his dad do whatever he wanted, so it was suprising to see Con stand up for himself and the summer house.

It was rude of Conrad to treat Belly in such a bad way. Conrad went missing and Jer and Belly found him at the summer house. They offered to help him with his midterm exams. Cons temper was short, so Jer asked whats you problem. Con responded with "Right now this is my problem. You and her"(117). This was rude because after all Belly and Con had been through he just referred to Belly as "her".

I was shocked when Jer and Belly found Conrad. Conrad was not home from school yet so they got worried. They went on the hunt for him. They got to Cons school and they asked a few classmates for where he was. "We found Conrad, thanks for the heads up"(101). This made me shocked because I thought Conrad was gone, and I didnt think anyone would help Jerimah and Belly.

Belly was nervous to visit Susannah. Susannah grew very ill. She was diagnosed with cancer a long time ago but it grew worse recently. Belly went going to visit her with her mother. Her mom told her to go inside, but she didn't not want to go alone. Belly was nervous so she responded with "By myself?"(67). This shows she was scared because she didn't want to see Susanna not doing so well.

It was cute when Cam gave Belly his sweater. Belly was invited to a party, but Con and Jerimah were ignoring her. She decided to hangout with this boy named Cam. She knew him from a Latin Convention. Belly got chilly at the beach and started to shiver. "Cam took off his hoodie and gave it to me"(119). This was sweet because Cam was being a gentleman and belly had never been treated like this.

Steven was jealous when Jerimah wanted to hang out with Belly. Jerimah asked Belly if she wanted to learn how to drive. Steven told Jerimah she would crash his car, but Jermiah responded that she would never crash with his teaching skills. Steven realized he'd rather hangout with Belly and snorted "Good luck. Then frowned." I know Steven was jealous because the way he acted after Jermiah wanted to be with his sister.

I was suprised when Jerimah decided to stay with Belly at the movies. Jerimah, Belly, and Steven went to the movies on a rainy day. Belly finally got the boys to watch a romantic comedy about dog walkers. Steven hated it and told Jerimiah to leave with him. Jerimah responded with ¨Nah, I´ll stay with Belly¨(64). This shocked me becase normally Jerimah would listen to Steven, even if thats not what he wanted to do.

I was shocked when Conrad stood up for Belly against Jerimiah and Steven. Conrad, Steven and Jerimiah were going on a boys camping trip, and Belly asked to come. The boys refused and started to mock her. Conrad was upset with their actions and he stood up for Belly. ¨Leave her alone¨ (28). I was surprised because Conrad used to ridicule Belly, but he was mature and stood up for what´s right.

I was pleased when Connor’s nurse helped disguise him. Connor was in the spot Lev had destroyed, so he lost an arm. From surgery he thinks he is unwound, but he has an unwounds arm. Connor told the nurse his name; the nurse responded happily. “As it so happens, an ID with the picture charred off was found.. it would be a shame if the ID went to waste”(318). This was lovely; the nurse saved Connors life by hiding him.

I was shocked when Connor survived the bombing. Lev was very anxious when Connor was going into the operating room. The guard shot Blaine with a tranq gun and hit the detnator. Everyone was very scared Connor had died. but they spotted something in the distance it was Connor! ¨His face is a shredded, bloody mess. He´s lost an eye.... But he´s alive!¨ (311). This made me shocked because I was expecting Connor to die.

I was shocked when Connor ran up to Lev and forgave him. A jet arrived filled with people. He spotted a boy, it was Lev! He wanted to run to Lev, but Connor relized Lev was the one who betrayed him. Fighting back all the hatred towards Lev, Connor runs towards him. ¨He pulls Lev toward him and hugs him tightly...¨(209). This was shocking to me because even though Lev decived Connor, Connor still forgave him.

I was shocked when the boy who walked into the pawn shop knocked out the store clerk and robed him. After a long time of convincing the employee the gold necklace was worth $500 the boy followed the worker to the safe. ¨He got him to open the safe, and the moment he did, he knocked him out and cleaned the safe¨ (161). This suprised me because the kid would have recieved $500 anyways.

When Cy took a golden bauble from a X-Mass shop I was confused. When Lev looked away for a second, Cy was gone. He was in a X-Mass shop. Cy asked the employee if there were any nut crackers. ¨Oh there on the back wall. The woman turns to look across the store, and the moment she does Cy picks up a dangling gold bauble¨(132). Cy did such a daring act that confused me, making me wonder why he did it.

One part that was very surprising was when Lev wanted to get unwound. When Connor pulled Lev out of the car and held him hostage, Lev tried to break free. He wanted to run back to the car with the pastor in it to go to the harvesting camp. ¨I would never run away from my own tithing¨ (42/43). This was very strange and surprising to me because he chose his fate as dying without even trying to change it.

One part that was very disapointing was when he didnt get the right colored jacket. The narrator asked his mom for a nice new black leather jacket. When he arrives homethere is a ugly green jacket on his bedpost. Originally he didnt think it was his maybe his brothers. "Draped on my bed post a jacket the color of day old guacamole" (1). This shows his mom got the wrong color jacket and he wasnt very impressed.
