Gino Marchetti was a defensive lineman for the colts and he won championships with them. He was with the team for so long that when he started playing the team wasn't called the colts yet.

Deacon Jones was presumed to be the best defensive player of all time and he still is high on the list and that's the problem with this book, you can't account for new players.

I continue to believe that there is a heavy bias towards teams he coached and guys that played when he was a kid. Just guessing I bet he was born in the midwest on the west side of Lake Michigan somewhere because most the players have been packers or bears players.

Im realizing that a lot of the authors top player are ones that he's coached and then later on there will be ones that are all around excepted. And a lot of the guys in the book are from the 40s 50s and 60s which is when the author was a kid and grew to becoming a coach.

He ranked Dutch Clark 13th for running backs and he was the only at the time 1981 to get the rushing title 3 years in a row 1936, 1937, and 1938.

He ranked Franco Harris #11 in the running backs. Franco Harris was the 3rd running back to pass 10,000 career yards only behind Jim Brown and O.J. Simpson.

He had the Bears greatest running back Walter Payton at number 7 for running backs and that goes to show just how good he was because he wasn't even retired yet. Walter Payton would later go on to win the Super Bowl with the Bears in 1985 and would become one of the greatest ever.

The author ranked Jim Brown as the greatest running back and had Oj Simpson at number 2. This was before the murders and the White Bronco chase. Before that Oj was seen as one of the greatest running backs of all time and the first to run for over 2,000 yards in a season. But now all of his accomplishments don't matter because he's now seen as a monster.

the author ranked Mike Ditka number 2 for greatest tight ends and he wrote about how he played for the Bears, Eagles, and Cowboys. He would later become the coach of the Bears and get them their one and only Super Bowl win.

The guy ranked Joe Namath #14 on the Qbs and he used that act that he made the Super Bowl. He did bring up his flaws but he will always be remembered for guarantying the Super Bowl win which he did.

A lot of the players listed are before the Super Bowl era and because this book is so old it shows a different perspective on what people though of certain positions and stats of that time.

People at Marvel realized that kids might wanna become artist or writers in their own right. So they decided to make a comic that was official and could be drawn and written and sent back to Marvel.

Captain Americas original partner from the 1940 comics, Bucky came back and turned into the Nomad. He would team with Captain America for a while before splitting.

An idea that was later excepted was denied and put people in outrage which was just redoing the stories for certain people and that is what happens all the time now.

Wolverine got his own comic series and with the success of Dark Pheniox Marvel launched another X-man comic series along with a new Captain Marvel series and she would end up replacing the Wasp as leader of the Avengers.

Marvel Started creating graphic novels and they were to compete with European like books and they were mostly all made by the best creators in the company. They were a complete story instead of having a multi part comic series they did one story within the book.

Some more advancements happened with the animated tv shows and lots of new villains were introduced like a group called the HAND.

The X-Men story called Days of Future Past was created in 1981 where Wolverine warned the X-Men from the past about the sentinels. Sentinels are robots that find and kill mutants. This was a very popular story and would even be made into a movie.

In the late 1980s marvel had the comic citizens want Captain America run for president and he turned it down after not wanting to have to do so much. The U-Foes were create and they have some stupid powers.

The X-Men series had its biggest known story about jean grey who had turned into the Pheniox and became uncontrolled and was dangerous and was needed to be stopped. Stan Lee accepted a bunch of movie projects about characters. One of these characters was made for a movie and she was called the Dazzler along with She Hulk being created.

Justin Hammer was introduced in 1979 to go against Iron Man and in the late 70s early 80s Marvel started to ship comics to comic book specific stores and even made series you could only get within the stores.

Mystique was introduced and Ms. Marvel got a new costume after being criticized. Devil Dinosaur was created as one of artist and writer Jack Kerby's last comic series. Marvel wanted to capitalize on the Hulk tv show so they created a new Hulk series.
