One sad part is when Jonas got really sick. He couldn't do his job witch meant he couldn't get his rations. Andrius helps him by giving a can of tomatoes and ,the Siberian women said that he should have a certain tea. "You are going to be alright. We just need to find you something to eat and drink(194). This shows that even if the soviets won't help Jonas other people will and he will be ok.

One important part was when Lina's mother could work for the guard's and tell them what people are saying about them. Mother said no because she didn't want to betray the other jewish people. They only asked mother because she was a good translator. "THEY WANT ME to work with them (114). This part was important because they wanted mother to work for them and if she said yes then she would get "privileges".

One connection that I made while reading was to a different book, Of Mice And Men. In Of Mice And Men Carleton shot Candy's dog because it wasn't well, but in the book that i'm reading, Ona the baby died and her mom didn't want to through it so another person did it for her. "... From Ona and threw it down the hole"(76). This shows that if you are close to someone you don't want to hurt them or it.

One sad part was when she went to the bathroom when the guards were at her house. She wanted to take the attention off her mom because she had stuff that she wasnt allowed to have. What she didnt know is that it would be "the last time I would look into a real mirror for over a decade"(12). This part was sad because it was when she was leaving her house and she didnt know what was going on, she just had to listen.

One confusing part was when Haily's uncle asks how long her dad has been home for. This part is confusing because I thought that her dad was in jail, and they never mentioned that he was coming home. "How long has your dad been home" (p 104)? This shows that he was home and not in jail anymore. This may lead to Haily's uncle leaving now that her dad is back home

One character trait to describe Haley is strong.Her dad went to jail and her mom died when she was very young. Haley has to live with her uncle. Whenever Holly's mom picks them up from school, Haley wonders to herself is her mom looked like Hollys."I'd stare at Kira, wondering if she looked like my own mom had looked like her"(77).This shows that Haley is strong because she didn't really get to meet her mom or dad,

One surprising part was when Haley got a letter from her dad. One day when Haley was home she opened a letter from her dad saying he apologized that he didn't come down when she was visiting him in jail. In the letter it says "I'm sorry I didn't show up..."(55). This shows that he knew that it was wrong that he didn't come down to see her and he was sorry.

One important part was when Haley came up with the idea to record everything so she doesn't forget peoples voices.Haley doesn't remember her moms voice because she died when Haley was young, so she doesn't want to forget her classmates voices.Also she doesn't remember her mom "Hey! i said.Can you buy me a recorder for school tomorrow"(29).This quote proves that she really doesn't want to forget her classmates voices.

One surprising part was when Belly's mom convinced Mr. Fisher to not sell the house and let Conrad keep the house on one condition. This one condition was Conrad couldn't fail any of his tests that he had the next day. " I want you do finish your exams and if you do that the house is yours"(234). This shows that Mr. Fisher just wanted the best for the boys but the boys didn't think this.

One surprising part was when they told us that they were selling the summer house, and Conrad had given up. I didn't think that Conrad was going to give in and let somebody buy the summer house because it was so important to him. "he lifted his glass, 'to the last night'. (185)." This part is so surprising because Conrad was saying how is was his house and not his dad's, and how his mom wouldn't want it to be sold.

One important part is when Conrad opens the door the the lady that is trying to but the summer home. This is so important because now we know why Conrad isn't leaving and it's not because of school its because he doesn't want his dad to sell the house. "'I'm just her to make sure everything's coming along and getting packed up'"(143). This part is really big because it's showing how important the house is to Conrad.

One surprising part was when Belly and Jeremiah were looking for Conrad and they figured out that he might be at the summer house. When Jeremiah tells her that they have to go, Belly says no and to drop her home. "'Maybe you should just drop me off on the way to Cousins'"(99). This shows that belly didn't want to go to Cousins because of her fight with Conrad, but she gave in for Jeremiah to help find him.

One important part was when Conrad went missing. Jeremiah called Belly saying that he doesn't know where Conrad went and he needs help looking for him and he asked Belly if she would help. "'He Jeremiah, said, Hey Belly, Conrad's gone''(44). This part was really important because belly cared about Conrad or else she wouldn't go with Jeremiah to look for him.

One important pear was when Susanna gave Belly the pearl necklace for her birthday. The necklace that Susanna gave her was very important because it was the necklace that her dad had given her for her 16th birthday and now it was Belly's. " ' My father gave it to me when i turned 16. I want you to have it now' " (221). This shows hoe important Belly is to Susanna.

One important part was when Cam and Belly kissed at dinner after Jeremiah was being annoying. Cam went to dinner at their summer house and Jeremiah was talking about how Cam is a vegetation and Belly isn't and they have kissed before. "then he pulled me to him and kissed me quickly"(169). This shows how mature Cam is and he likes Belly for who she is and not what she eats.

One character trait for Conrad is overprotective. He is overprotective of Belly because at the party he wouldn't let her drive home with Cam because she just met him. " 'you're not riding with someone you don't even know'"(115).This proves that Conrad actually cares about Belly, and that's why he's overprotective over her.

One important part was when Belly and Conrad were going to the boardwalk together, but Conrad only went to see the right toss lady. She thinks that Conrad wanted to see the worker lady at the ring toss. "...and my voice trailed off when I saw that Conrad wasn't even listening. He was watching the lady working the toss (13). This shows that he wasn't even paying attention to her.

one important part when when mom got a call and she told them that they all had to move out into the Farmlands The officials call on the porter and they wanted mom. they told her that they had to move out and into the Farmlands because they knew too much information. "we have have bean moved to the farm land. This was so important because it leads to other thoughts in her head like loosing not only Ky but Zander to.

One important part was when Cassia got taken on the train. When some officials came to take her when she was talking to Ky again. Cassia was already told that she couldn't keep talking to him because then she will become an aberration. "we walk with 2 officials on my right and 1 on my left" (278). This is important because now i think that she will become an aberration and thats really bad.

One sad part was when they cut down most of the trees on Cassias street because they weren't "perfect." It was really sad for Cassia and her family because the trees meant a lot to them. "It's sad for all of us, mother says fiercely"(252). This part shows how important the trees were to them and how was it was for the people to have to take them down because they weren't good enough for their way of life.

One trait that describes Cassia is generous. Even though Cassia and her friend were drifting apart she still offered her golden compact for Em's banquet the next day. "I have a compact you can borrow if you want for your banquet. It's golden" (142). This shows that she is a giving person because even though her and Em were having friend troubles, she still offered the compact that was very important to her.

One important part was when the society came in to tell them that grandfather had qualified for the preservation. This means that his body tissue will be saved so he could maybe come back to life. "And we are pleased to inform you that your data indicates you have qualified for preservation" (75). This is important because not everyone qualifies.

one confusing part was when the system glitched. Cassia was at her banquet and it was her turn to get matched but, the screen went black and it glitched. "The screen is dark, and it stays dark. That can only mean one thing"(14). This shows that this part is confusing because it is supposed to be a perfect world where they chose your perfect match that you don't know.

One important part was when Rodger tried to take Ms. Jones bag and she still gave Rodger the money to buy the new shoes he wanted. Ms. Jones took Rodger back to her house and said the only reason he took her bag was to buy the new suede shoes. "Now, here, take this ten dollars and buy yourself some blue suede shoes" (3) said Ms. Jones. This shows that she was showing him that he should just ask and not take.

One surprising part was when his dog ripped his new ugly green jacket. The narrator had a new green jacket that his dog tared a whole in it. " He jumped again and again until a tooth sunk deep ripping an l-shaped tear on the left arm" (2). This was supersizing because it was his new jacket and he couldn't get a new one until it didn't fit.
