im three chapters into coraline, and this creepy little story about a lonely girl and a mysterious door has become a highlight of my day. what's really special is hearing coraline's strange world come to life in someone else's voice, and we're taking turns reading chapters aloud. it's even more enjoyable when that someone has a voice you could listen to all day, no matter what they're read.

okay i do enjoy how not all deaths get some grand send off, or some noble sacrifice or romance. its very realistic. some times its just two scared and selfish kids doing horrible things and using a belt just to survive.

i think one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking things about hiroki and takako is that he did love her. just not romantically. and somehow, that makes it hurt even more.
