While I wait for Kristin to catch up to me in Part III, let me just say:

This is one of the best books I've read. Not for prose or symbolism, though it does well in both, but for the amazing story. Its character-driven plot keeps you hooked the entire time, even when they're just sitting around chatting (and whittlin' something).

Who knew I'd be into cowboys like that?

If you just saw me add all the trash Indiana Jones prequels from the 90s to my Want to Read list, no you didn't.

I couldn't finish this one, unfortunately. It's well-written, but the pacing was too slow for me to really get into it. Maybe I'll try again someday, seeing as how Noelle owns it, but it's not helping me get out of my reading slump.

Goodreads won't let me review Mere Christianity so I have to keep this short

This book follows a logical thread explaining Christian beliefs. The standout theme, for me, is the idea that while we are not begotten sons, we are still creations made by the same Father like statues that will someday come to life

Audiobook it with Rhind-Tutt for books 1 & 2. I loved it, highly recommend it, and would give it five stars!

Daniel Baldizon is starting Blood Meridian, or, the Evening Redness in the West
I tried, I really did. Many people have said that people who read Steinbeck first, then McCarthy, can’t read McCarthy. I thought I could beat the allegations and read Blood Meridian. Unfortunately, it’s just not for me. The writing style is rambling and for 50 pages, I’ve been lost.

Maybe I’ll come back to it someday, but for now, I’m just not enjoying it and that’s really what matters when you read.

This is my third time reading this book, Noelle was reading this recently and so I caught up to where she is.

So far, it’s an amazing read and very powerful. I’m remembering events as I read them and catching details I missed when I first read this in high school. It’s definitely one of my favorites.

We're gonna read Part I and see how we feel.

Personally, I don't know a thing about 19th century Russia so we're gonna give this a shot and if it's too slow or too involved, I'll set aside for later.

Daniel Baldizon is on page 43 of 95 of The Practice of the Presence of God
I've tried to read this book before and had a hard time understanding it. The beginning of each paragraph of the Conversations section starts with "That..." and it made it hard for me to read.

I'm slowly working through it now and taking notes throughout. It's easier to read when you realize that Abbe de Beaufort is writing a list and he means "He told me that..."

It draws a lot from 1 Corinth, but I love it!
