Happy to jump back into this world and still as intrigued as before my month-long hiatus 😁

Moving quickly and reminiscent of Faking Christmas (bet less cute). I could see this being a fun listen/read for holiday travel.

I love how much the main child gets absolutely roasted by the narrator and the other characters. Little wench deserves it 💅

I grow weary. I also refuse to think "Don't die" is in any way endearing or affectionate.

Something about "lonely and useful" as a description of a person really resonated. (Get it?? LIKE RESONANCE)

My friend told me the lore

I tire of this. Family asks girl to come back home to help the town. Girl arrives back in hometown, and family constantly makes her feel like garbage. Despite being 28 or so, girl is immature and annoying. Unlike in The Gingerbread Bakery, the 10-year-old "will they, won't they" romance is uninspired and bland.

Gotta speed-read this to make sure it's appropriate 👀

Intriguing so far! I'm seeing a pleasant mix of elements reminiscent of A Whisper in the Walls, Mistborn, Harry Potter, A Deadly Education, and even Behooved! I enjoy when a book universe has its own slang and swears as well. Excited to see where it goes!

Can't wait to finish this tomorrow and be left adrift until the next installment in May! 😭

Okay, okay, shaking up the format a little bit. The audiobook now has male and female readers, and we have some past and present timeline stories occurring. Excited to see how the story of Annie and Mac unfolds.

I really am enjoying this book! Horse husband is like Fiona from Shrek kind of, but horse, and not at all.
