it’s already gotten to that point where there’s so many high stakes events happening that it’s impossible to put down. that usually doesn’t come this early in a book, i feel like a prisoner 😭

i’d chosen this series thinking i was safely starting one that had been neatly finished and wrapped up by now since the first book is from 2014 and there’s 6 of them, only to find out the last book is not out yet and the people have been waiting for it for three years already????? and that it will definitely not be out in 2026?????? existence is prison

i don’t know that listening to a book this long is really for me. the narration is exquisite, truly the best i’ve ever listened to, but constantly seeing how much time there’s left and how little of a dent i’ve made so far feels daunting even if i do like the book. i’m already 6 hours in and still have 12 hours to go?

i’ve had a strong urge to start writing letters lately. i’ve written a few down, composed a few in my head, sent none of them. then i started this book a few days ago without knowing anything about the format. WHAT a coincidence???? interesting concept to completely write a book in letters. took me a min to get into it, but just watched the movie and somehow that helped

i love it when a series is complete already when i start reading it. and not just out in the world, but fully locked and loaded on my e-reader, ready for me to binge read. currently working my way through this 6 part series like wildfire- i’m gonna obliterate this reading challenge (says overconfident winter version of me)

this is the most gruesome metaphor for capitalism i have read in fantasy so far. science fiction, sure, but not fantasy. though i’m also not sure i could even call this a metaphor. it’s more… capitalism’s suffering rendered in it’s most literal form, completely unobstructed. no place to hide from the guilt that we all bear. very confronting.
