and jaeha again teasing hak for being so ridiculously down bsd for yona and refusing to accept that yona loves him back yup mmhmmm that’s my reluctant older brother figure right there

yet another absolutely electric sequence!!! the panelling is just masterful with all the different actions happening all at once and building such palpable tension and then everything just STOPS. i love how kusanagi prioritizes those reaction shots after massive moments like these. we get to sit in the shock and the comedown from the adrenaline along with the rest of the characters

that was simultaneously the stupidest and sweetest sequence of events in this manga thus far and you best believe i am giggling and kicking my damn feet at it

sinha calling tae-u a “littler hak” is the cutest shit i’ve ever seen i need to rip these pages apart with my teeth

I ACTUALLY CHEERED WHEN I TURNED THE PAGE LETS GOOOOOOOOOO oh my god if hak and mun-deok get to reunite even if it’s just for a few minutes i am going to sob my eyes out

these little moments of gija checking in on everyone (but especially the other dragons) are so important to me!!!!! kusanagi could easily let those things fall to the wayside but she never does and it makes the characters feel so alive and consistent. gija is probably my second favorite dragon bc of how loudly and unashamedly he expresses his care, even when it makes him seem kind of ridiculous sometimes

ayura and tetra are such bad bitches oh my god??? give me the spin-off NOW i’m curious about them and how they came to be riri’s bodyguards

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???????? of course kusanagi has to make me emo even during the transitional, goofy arcs. before that gut punch (plus the zeno one from before), i really did need this lighthearted reset though. kusanagi has such a keen sense for tone and always knows when and how to give her audience a hug after ripping their hearts out

i’ve been too locked in to comment on much but god now that zeno’s backstory has been unlocked he is stealing the show at every turn. that spread of him opening his arms to the blue dragon spirits as he tells them the horrible reality of his life????? he can afford to be so calm there bc he knows he needs nothing more than honesty to scare them off. his existence is monstrous, like he said

wdym zeno went to see each of the dragons when he sensed that yona had been born what the FUCK do you mean “zeno is good at waiting” how am i supposed to just go on with my day after this heartache how do i leap into the pages and hug him

so the implication is that after kaya, zeno never got close with anyone else for HUNDREDS OF YEARS??????? he was just alone, constantly feeling the presence of the dragons and their life cycles but forced to live outside of it all??????? how is he not clinically insane or evil how is he sunshine after all of that grief

unsurprisingly, the real reason behind zeno referring to himself in the third person ended up being even more depressing than i could’ve imagined. thanks kusanagi

i’ve been asking for zeno’s backstory for so many volumes and now that i have it i’m ugly crying and my chest physically fucking hurts from how tragic this is. on the bright side, i’m so happy that the current dragons are much more of a family than the first ones ever got to be. it’ll hurt even more when it ends but at least zeno can finally experience true love and companionship after so much loneliness

the idea of zeno never being able to reunite with the dragons in death and just being forced to feel them all die over and over and over again for at least 2000 years is enough to make me want to lay on my floor and stare at my ceiling for days on end

oh he knew from the moment zeno showed the dragons his healing ability. he knew what his power entailed and that’s why he never wanted him to get injured. to protect him from the horrifying reality of invulnerability and immortality. of course it was a pipe dream but god that just makes it even more tragic. poor zeno. and now he’s gonna have to watch the dragons die one by one too. COOL

that chapter felt like something straight out of an older teen shonen oh my god???? the way that zeno’s skin knits itself back together and all the body horror of his limbs and head getting chopped off is so visceral and BRUTAL. my heart was breaking for him the entire time, it wasn’t a victorious fight at all. my face looked just like yun and yona’s. i’m so glad they all hugged him after cause wtf

if i’m right and zeno has been the yellow dragon since the very beginning of the cycle then how much pain has he endured???? how long has he been treated as nothing more than a human shield? is that why he refers to himself in the third person and doesn’t use the names of the other dragons? he’s so used to being an object???? oh god he’s gonna become my favorite isn’t he

god i just love how each of the dragon's backstories inform their characters so uniquely. jaeha grew up in a similar environment as sinha but more hostile rather than lonely, and so it makes perfect sense that while sinha is soft spoken and meek, jaeha is loud and brash. they both have thick walls up around themselves and it's been beautiful to watch them start to slowly open up and accept the love of the crew

oh my god i'm still buzzing from the last chapter and now we get jaeha backstory too??????? this run of 6 or so volumes has been impeccable i've gotten everything i wanted and more

i've lost track of the amount of times this manga has had my heart racing and my blood running cold and my jaw on the floor. i think my prediction about zeno was right then????? unless he still dies of old age. i think i'll get my answers very soon.
i LOVE how the dragons all came together to help hak despite them all being sick and then everyone's absolute HORROR when zeno got stabbed. just incredible all around

is this the first time that zeno hasn't referred to himself in third person??? maybe not but it's definitely a rarity. at this point i trust kusanagi to sprinkle backstory as she sees fit so i'm just buzzing at all these little hints of intrigue about zeno and wondering how it'll eventually come together. i might laugh at this prediction later but i feel like he's somehow the og yellow dragon

hey so i was JUST thinking about how the found family has really settled into a lovely little groove and how nice it is to see them all so comfortable with each other and showing their affection more openly now, and then you’re gonna remind me that they have short lifespans??????? fuck that actually they’re all gonna live forever if i have to watch any of them die i will never forgive kusanagi

riri has definitely become one of my favorite side characters, i’m endlessly charmed by her and her super gay crush on yona. i just love seeing people of all types being inspired by yona, both for her determination and her burgeoning combat abilities!!!
