Doesn't feel like I'm reading a historical work, this is a romp in the realm of *entertaining* hyperbole, caricature and revisionist opinions. Norden, Le May, Arthur Harris are early targets.. I suspect they will be posthumously pilloried. "Mafia" is an unfortunate insult to those who prosecuted the strategic bombing offensive during WW2 that so turned the tide against the Nazis and Japan.

A knowledgeable and very well referenced background I'm already finding fascinating. The "lead up" and essential clear prelude to the Luftwaffe turning to night bombing in late 1940 and through into 1941 and beyond, including preparations pre war, the impact of the threat of air war in civilians, and even pre-war ideas on the limits and restrictions of bombing of non-military targets make the mind boggle.
