Part 2 chapter 1 was such a delicious tie around the slow build up of characterization of the entirety of part one, and that was only through 12 pages and two letters from Julian omg what the hellllll.

And Julian is so real for despising being home and venting vaguely about it on his letters that’s like me on Instagram 😜

And Paul is sadly relatable on page 141 🤓🤓

This book is bland. Like very. So far apart from the regular “gentil garçon intellectuel et efféminé” there’s so characterization that holds so weight to the main character. And don’t even get me started on the boy he loves. This story has been nothing but internal monologue with no scenes, no dialogue, not that’s worth remembering.

This is book, so far, has been pretty bland. Is this really the peak of complicated queer romance people say it is? Cuz I’ve already read peak complicated queer romance and the authors of that book is James Baldwin, not Monsieur Phillip over here. Disappointing so far.

This book is in first person but despite that the intro is still captivating
