This is the first King novel I ever read, and he certainly has a way of making almost nothing happen for 100 pages and still make it so terribly enthralling.

Coincidentally I also started watching Twin Peaks around when I started reading this, and I can hear the show’s soundtrack in this novel

I kinda don’t wanna read any further, because Marin and Mabel finally had such a beautiful and genuine moment together after such a strained relationship, and I don’t want them to mess it up. I want them to stay just like this

What I like about this book is that you don’t need to try too hard to keep up with what’s going on, you need only to let yourself be moved by the moment

Such excellent wordcraft. I would’ve never thought to use a word like “jahoobies” before

This book is so good, and the vision that the author has is exceptional, but it’s just a little bit too easy. Each chapter explains what the literature is reflecting or expressing and doesn’t let the reader come to it themselves. LaCour is “Swifting it,” as I call it

Very readable and digestible - good characters, comfortable pacing, I can see why this is a popular book

23 years old and I’ve never read this series
