Reading this slowly and consequently thinking about it a lot. His blend of fact and fiction, I love. Reminds me of other Mexican contemporary authors, Jazmina Barrera for one. I always learn so much while being totally captivated by their stories

Working my way through the Julia Wertz library. She’s a great amateur historian!

Zadie is such a heroine. There’s not many that speak their truest of true minds so broadly and so insightfully yet pull it off so magnificently every time.

This book feels precious and I don’t just mean the words in the book. I mean the size and shape of it how it fits in your hand. It feels like holding someone’s journal. And then the words contribute to that, it’s an intimate look inside a Pastor‘s relationship to Emily Dickinson and his country. Loving it

There are some books that feel like you’ve discovered your own personal bible, a sacred text that defines your soul. When I read The God of Small Things in the early 2000s, it connected me to something essential I felt like I’d forgotten along the way. Now I’m rereading it after listening to Mother Mary Comes to Me read by Arundhati, which is equally as affecting.

I breathe in, and I know I'm breathing in- that's the practice of mindful breathing.

All of us need to have a spiritual dimension in our lives. We need spiritual practice. If that practice is regular and solid, we will be able to transform the fear, anger, and despair in us and overcome the difficulties we all encounter in daily life.
