ok so. that’s not how exposition works. if you want to explain to me, the reader, something about the world, you can’t have ur character explain it to the ONE GIRL who would already KNOW. if she had written effy explaining it to preston that would have made so much more sense

that was such a nice chapter. like so nice. her writing really popped off there & it felt like an actual good development between the two main characters. despite all the problems i have with certain themes across her books i really do just enjoy this one

i have SO many thoughts. the way effy suddenly had to exposit everything was a little janky but honestly i like the take on changelings well done miss ava

this sentence is really pissing me off “she looked in the driveway for Ianto’s car, but—blessedly—it was gone.”

i feel like we really didn’t need that comma like the punctuation is all perfectly correct but as a whole it just reads weird
and yes i need everyone to know how much it’s stressing me out i can’t stop thinking about it

Alright, so the main character is racist. That’s potentially fine if she uhhh stops that later on. But Ava Reid has written a book before where there’s lowkey racist undertones that don’t get addressed, so I’m gonna put a pin in that.
